So glad that you are feeling better. I think most have little routines that help them when they are feeling down. None of mine are working, more because my cedar fever has been so bad this year; some years barely bothers me and others, I feel like I would need to die to get better. I don't think that either Carolyn or Alice understand how important image can be in the bigger cities; an Alice arriving like that is the right image. Dante understands this, but will he be able to explain it to them, we will see. Could Dante, Frank, and Alice exist in a relationship where all three of them were involved on some level? Might be more than interesting to try. Blaise really creeps me out now, every time he makes an appearance. All I can think about his him fondling Anthony and causing the wreck. Color Sawyer very confused, but I do believe that Tom will do what he can to help him. Alice is going to have to make some decisions in the end; decisions that impact her, Frank, Dante, and others more than her own family. Excellent chapter.

Lord, Will's headboard must be the size of a very small wooden block by now. So that that Will has Marie and vice versa, being in that high pressure environment means that they have someone that understands and will be there for each other. Sky is hot and glad that he decided to jump the fence; and since I have no doubt that Will is correct, it will double his chances for a date on Saturday night. Of course, I am sure he will settle down and marry to make sure the family name is carried on, but he can keep a nice man on the side. I was so sure that Brian's wreck was going to be serious and the impetuous to change him, but the desire for knowledge and a better ability to serve Greg proved the greater reason. The ability to absorb the knowledge of those you are taking blood from would be something that would tempt me greatly. I know there need to be a few laws, but Greg is going to run into issues if he tries to regulate behavior too significantly. Excellent chapter.

Well, at least it appears that the murder had nothing to do with Corcoran, just a run of the mill knife fight and an unlucky stab. Corcoran does appear to be getting bolder, is it because he truly doesn't care, or is Rick right and he wants to go out in a blaze of glory. I can't wait to see what spectacular the dancers have ready for the police float. Benevetti may be an ass, but I don't think he will let anything happen to a fellow cop, even a gay one.

Much like @drsawzall, I am curious about the idea of a water mage or a druid being involved. Generally, those that use water or have it as an affinity tend to be calm and more on the good or positive side, so this would be an outlier. I do think that all of the mummies must have had some ability, even if it was inactive. I think perhaps someone or some group did something to steal or drain the ability. Why it turned them to mummies, I have no clue. Kellen and his dreams trouble me. I worry that Damien will come unglued at the wrong moment. Was Nora so browbeaten by the first pair of detectives that this group just treating her like a member of the team unleashing some of her potential, or was she hiding her ability from the first pair? Atlas confuses me, I just can't get a read on him. Palmer had some good ideas, but he seemed to be quick to dismiss his contribution, why?

Talk about your Blast from the past.

Well, Adam got to see what had Rick all a twitter earlier in the day. Rick got to meet Adam's boss and his partner and a couple of friends that he had meet before. While Rick had been to the bar before and seen a few drag acts over the years; this place was packed, and he hadn't ever experienced anything like what he saw on stage; and then he got to be in the act as well. Funny the line about being a police officer, but then that can be a standard joke in some acts when they pull this. And I did warn that Corcoran might pull something; but even I didn't see that coming. Sending a drink to Rick was a little over the top. Of course, Rick will never be able to get to him before he slips away, the place is just too crowded. I was afraid of an attack on Rick or Adam; but this is almost worse, it is just another time that Rick would have been close to Corcoran and not able to nab him. This is going to start playing havoc with his psyche. Rick will have to go after him, but let's hope nothing else happens. Just how many lives does Corcoran have...

This is a genre that is very hard to do well. We have some authors that have tried and done a great job, but I wish a few more would try their hand at it. Thanks for the deep dive as always.

I honestly thought that Tom did what he did with Blaise to protect Frank, and I think on some level he did, but he did because the thought Frank was damaged. I think that Tom is not going to be happy that he put up with Blaise all of these years when he really shouldn't have done so, at least for that reason. I am worried about Henry, if Blaise is losing interest in Tom, don't want him turning toward Henry. Dante, Frank, and Tom need to get with Alice as soon as possible.

Sorry, I love Eileen, she is a hoot. I am sure she will find something to do with the political cartoons. Louis and Charlie need to have a talk, but not sure that either really wants to tackle it yet. Tom and Ian are interesting on so many levels. Not sure where that is going, or if it is, but love it. The police know something is going on, but not sure how serious it is yet. Thomas and his employer are sure that the artefact is still around, but why? I mean if Uncle had it, wouldn't he have sold it when he went on his hedonistic binge? They seem so sure it was put back somewhere, but is there really any reason to believe that other than stubbornness?

Corcoran's obsession with Rick seems to be growing, and I think it will come to a head at the parade. Let's just hope there is no collateral damage. Love that Barrett was arrested, but what were the charges exactly? And the Minister of Police stepped right into it. I wonder how much the Premier will back him before cutting him loose. So glad that Shane and Jimmie are safely tucked away, Tom and Beth are the best. While I hope the night of frivolity goes well, I do hope that Rick doesn't let his guard down, if Corcoran can catch him out and about, he might spring a trap before the parade. The act of surprise is clearly on his side.

I too can't seem to get happy even though the holidays are over. Usually about ten days or so after New Years, I start to perk up some but just can't seem to find that spark this year. I do hope you find something that gives you a lift, and if you do, please share with the rest of us. Thanks so much for all that you and the others do, this site would not function nearly as well without you all.

Sounds like Remy is on the verge of losing it. Mistress Ellen was right to get him away from everyone at the moment. I wish Remy and Marc could spend more time together just being together. I wish Anduin would fall down the stairs.

I don't think anyone, even Travis or Will realize how much this role is going to cause issues with Travis. Julian is going method and turning into someone that could be basically based on Curtis. While everyone will tell Travis to tap into that and get those feelings across, it may prove to be more than he can handle. I can see all sorts of issues coming up. Hollywood is one world that I have really no experience with, have some with theatre in New York but it is such a different animal from what I have been told. Wonder if there is that much tension over stuff like the first meeting between Travis and Julian? Why do I suspect that Will is going to have another notch on his bedpost soon; is there anything left for the mattress to even rest on?

Excellent chapter, the first ability some of them have that I am really jealous of, the ability to just pick up a language, I have tried and just can't.... Well, done, so many little moments but they all add up to making this so interesting on so many levels. Can't wait to see what happens next, although I think we know the next to be turned. Can't wait for the court.

That was part of the deal when Thomas Englert visited Louis, he never actually described what he was looking for; how was Louis to know if it was around, if he didn't even know what it was supposed to be? Small and historic, that is really telling, LOL. Isn't it amazing how learning something about someone you think you know can give you a totally different view of them. Wonderful as always, can't wait to see what happens next.

We got some answers but not all of them. And that is okay, for now. Walter turned out to be more of a good guy that I thought in the beginning. Greg has chosen to be the keeper of secrets, and that is never an easy position to occupy. Dan and Claire have decided to love him and care for him, no matter what. James and Adam have made him their brother in more than name, in their hearts. And Caleb/Josh is trying to reconcile what they can, trying to see where it leads. But yes, a return to some normalcy would be healing and more than a little helpful for the time being. Cerberus ever aware, ever watching...

A truly exceptionally well written thriller/mystery/family drama. This had a little bit of it all. The characters were amazing well written, and they all just grabbed you from the moment you encountered them. The ebb and flow of the story was perfect. It would build to a crescendo and then you would get a few answers then the buildup would begin again. It also asked a couple of really important societal questions, how much are we depending on technology and what happens when you lose access to your creation. You won't be able to stop when you start. And I truly hope there is a part two.

Okay, I need therapy and a shower, not sure of the order, after reading this chapter... With the possible exception of Atlas, and not sure about him yet; all of this group needs intensive therapy and some good old TLC. Still think the white spots on the bodies and the magical void are going to be major clues, if we can ever find anyone that understands about either of them.

Peer pressure, hate to go against the consensus.

Politics do make the strangest bedfellows. So, it appears that Martin was not the first victim, and Rick was not his first obsession; makes it all the stranger to me that he can't seem to let go of trying to hurt Rick, that is what he seems to be doing now rather than getting at Rick, hurting him by killing those around him. Have to believe the Barrett and perhaps the Minister of Police are about to get a view of the jail and prison system, that they will not want to use as a photo op. You have to believe that Corcoran will make a move either against Rick or against those dear to him at Mardi Gras. A crowd that size would give him ample opportunity to hide in plain sight. This is getting just way too good.
