    Part 35.

Talk about a test of intellect, skill, intuition and dedication, and still the suspense builds.....

  3. Here's an interesting article about doing away with daylight savings time as well as two time zones in the continental US. http://qz.com/142199/the-us-needs-to-retire-daylight-savings-and-just-have-two-time-zones-one-hour-apart/
  4. I too really liked that Matt brought up their good times together and made Wade really think about them. Also big thanks for giving us the update on the ages of the characters. The babies will be walking and talking simple baby words by now.
  5. Your birthday weekend in Paris seems to have made your libido soar. I said the chapter had a huge surprise and made no mention of anyone being huge down there....But one can hope!
  6. Chapter 2 of HMS Valiant is up and has a huge surprise.

    Chapter 2

OMG! Seriously? I was blown away when Pellew introduced Horatio Hornblower. I hope the callow Hornblower impresses with his work ethic and serious demeanor. I don't recall that he has any musical talent. Now I might just have to brush up on some reading I haven't done in almost fifty years. More please!

  9. You make some great points and I can't help but note that it's springtime. (Or it's supposed to be!) So let me see, even in a big school with a big stadium that's no more than 7-8 home games in the fall each year or 8 x 115,000 so call it about 920,000 fans. I can't deny that college football is exciting. But football is a short season. Especially compared to most major league sports outside of football. If you go to the site: http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance/_/year/2013 you will see that there were 8 MLB franchises that had 3 million or more fans in 2013 and at least one of them is from a relatively small market (the Cardinals here in St. Louis). We routinely draw over 40,000 fans for a long so-called boring baseball game and have for the last decade which you can verify by selecting the various past years at the top of that page. And yes most of the fans are in Cardinal colors (think RED) and they give standing ovations to great plays routinely. Sometimes even to opposing players unlike what you might find in Philly! So when it comes to describing the most passionate dedicated fans, it just might be how you slice and dice it.

    Whew! Nice set-up and introduction!

    Chapter 3

OMG AQG ended the chapter with a bald face come-on! Got me all sweaty just thinking about the possibilities of which we will never get the details....
  14. This is what the telephone looked like in my grandmother's house until they moved in 1960. It didn't have the modern connector at the end of the cord as it was hardwired into their line. That phone was about 30 years old when they moved and it never once had a service problem.
  15. Wow, I never realized just how far ahead Mark has written this story.
  16. What is it that Canadians are famous for saying? Ehhh?
  17. Porn has been around forever and is documented at least as far back as written history including pictograms. I agree with most of what has been said. I don't think it's appropriate for very young children although I admit I was interested in my older brother's stash from the time I was eight and it probably did stimulate more than I needed at that age. I also think that the whole sadism, masochism, bondage, and cutting is more than a little too much for me. From my point of view, sex is supposed to feel good. I don't equate being hurt with feeling good and I think that is where it is problematic. I particularly agree with the comments about desensitization and addictive personality types. As a person who has been looking at it for more than fifty-five years, I can say that usually, a little goes a long way. A lot becomes boring.
  18. re: above reference to Back to the Future. More importantly https://www.gayauthors.org/story/mark-arbour/flux/2 of Flux is up and the encounter between Matt and Will is not to be missed!

    Chapter 2

Well the conversation between Matt and Will was very illuminating. For we readers, for Matt and for Will. Hopefully, nothing else comes up to put that light back under the bus.... That Wade was awake and somewhat manipulative was interesting and perhaps typical of a bottom. From everything I have read in the story and from Mark's comments, somehow I expect that Wade will in fact have another child with Tiffany and make her his de facto hostess. Wade truly has ambitions and law school is just his next step in the process. More please!
  20. While I remembered Enron, I had to look the WorldCom scandal up. http://voices.yahoo.com/worldcom-scandal-look-back-one-biggest-225686.html Even after reading about it, nothing clicked.
  21. Congratulations to everyone at GA with these awards and the list of nominees I think we are all winners!
  22. A talent well exercised! Congrats and thanks for all you do!
  23. Westie says above that it's almost 20 years since he read the "Hornblower" series. For me, it way more like 50, although I have caught a few of the movies in the series since then. If any of Mark's fans of the "Granger" series haven't read C. S. Forrester's Hornblower series, I can heartily recommend them. Here is a link to the Barnes and Noble page: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/C-S-Forrester-s-Horatio-Hornblower-series?store=allproducts&keyword=C.+S.+Forrester%27s+Horatio+Hornblower+series
  24. From the reviews: Alas it seems things are in a state of flux for most of the cast of the ongoing saga. More please ! Reply from Mark Arbour (author) And now you know why the book is title with that term. I got some kickback on that from my team, that it was too raw, but that's the feel I was going for. I think the post 9-11 era was a state of flux for many. As chapter 1 starts, we are about 9 months after the incident and many of us were just starting to finally be able to sort some things out. But it was a process and not one that resolved either smoothly or with a sense of rightness. To see that reflected in the CAP saga is Mark doing what he does best, giving his stories some historical realism. I for one am eagerly awaiting some more. Using Brad and Matt as narrators was inspired, but I think as most of them are in a state of flux, we may see more narrators as the story continues. I am especially looking forward to the next chapter as I expect Matt and Will to have a conversation that may set the tone of their ongoing relationship for a while.
