    I read this first book after the second book which I loved. This is not my favorite genre and I had started this before and never finished the first chapter. I again had some difficulty getting through the first chapter but wanted to see the genesis of the Shadow Effect. In comparing the two books, I think the author's writing skills improved over the the course of this book and were sharp for the second one. As a bonus, she describes sex scenes really well! I recommend this book as it is book 1 of the trilogy and I am really looking forward to the third book.

    The enema scene was gross, but funny; or funny, but gross; or just plain grossly funny! It does appear that T & W are developing a deeper relationship which could eventually leave Zach out. It also appears Mark is enjoying this gap year almost to the point that poor George is feeling a bit neglected....

    When both parties are telepathic and can read each other's thoughts they can tell when the other is being playful: “Alone at last!” To which he replied, “Let's go to sleep, I'm exhausted!” Then he smiled at me. Well we did go to sleep, eventually.... Rest assured, they enjoyed themselves before eventually going to sleep!
