A trip to take a look at the place is definitely in order...I think TJ is focused on seeing himself as damaged goods with emotional/mental problems he has to work through and he is not sure he can do that without some distance.

I believe that Mexico City is just over an hour by air from the nearest Pacific coast....and about 5 hours by car.

Ant or Ants as a nickname for Anthony is not uncommon. The kid next door didn't like Tony as a nickname and is called Ant by his family and friends, otherwise it's Anthony...Of course that kid is like 25 now and making a career in the Army.

So two weeks on a boat to CA with boys in Sarongs or less and not a word on how they slept or who with? Either Akela's plot has already taken place or he is distracted by the new boy(s)!

Well it seems the cops are more interested in the kidnapping than what happened to TJ. When they hear what happened to him and who did it, they may suspect even more that he or his family are responsible....

When I saw THE END, I automatically added "for now!" As usual, I loved it, but thought it a bit short.

As I have no recollection of the other story, I am enjoying reading this as a complete outsider trying to catch the glimpses of the back story as this one plays out. Well done!

Well done. You could run with this and turn it into a novelette as it seems there are endless possibilities for a several more chapters....

Teej is still fragile over losing his dad and everything that happens seems to be magnified. I too wonder about him passing out and if he has some underlying medical condition.....
