A novel in twelve chapters.

It’s springtime in the Italian mountain town of Ravello, and the community is just starting to wake up for the new tourist season. But something isn’t quite right: businesses are being attacked, and the police are nowhere to be seen.

Into the midst of all this comes twelve-year-old Daniele Ferrero, a kind and gentle boy who dreams of being a hero but really just wants a friend his own age. One night, when he follows a boy he sort of likes, he gets caught up in a dangerous game that will test his faith in humanity.

Dan has a problem. Or rather, many problems which combine to form one big... how do you call it, a conundrum? Unlike a lot of people though, he already knows what it will take to confront the conundrum and he sets out, on paper, how to do exactly that. In this coming out/coming of age story set in modern UK, I challenged the fundamental building blocks of a writer's craft. Dan's Conundrum is a commentary on what we write, why we write, and why we write the things we write.

Starting High School is tough no one can argue that. Especially when you have spent the last summer being hospitalized for a failed suicide attempt. All Nick wants to do now is try and put the pieces of his life back together and regain some kind of normalcy despite having a reputation as the school freak and through his efforts coming to learn that even someone as damaged as he is, is still worth being loved.

Amidst interfering family members and lively friends, their relationship develops. But then Dan’s employer, Francis Heyward starts to take an interest. Heyward is seemingly stupendously rich, a giver of notorious parties and the possessor of an enviable art collection. There’s a question of whether a line should be crossed, and whether Heyward can even be trusted at all.
