The writings of andr0gene mostly reside under the 'romance' category, pitting characters into awkward or impossible situations and let them make the best of it. Several of his efforts have popped up around the web over the years, with one of his stories being voted #1 on the historical toplist for five years straight (since 2005); another sits at #4 on that same list. These are tales grounded in real life, featuring gay men dealing with everyday concerns about family, friends, and relationships. Characters are men who tackle challenges instead of backing away from them. The author’s love of motorcycles and travel and his contempt for social injustice often play a central role in his stories.

Dark's stories follow the lives and times of mature adults in a myriad of environments. They can be serious at times with an occasional perceptive observation on human nature and society. Dark's characters are often feisty and sarcastic, and plagued with a peculiar stubbornness regarding reality.
