Chapter 16 Predator

They can be young, old, or in between

In the spotlight or hiding unseen

Biding their time as they stalk their goal

Showing a coldness that denotes no soul

No respect for what others have built

Easy for them; they possess no guilt

Life ruined, is for them, no concern

Conquest is the victory they yearn

They prey on the weak, their tortured pain

Wearing them down for selfish gain

Use them up and then throw them away

Next up, they’ll focus on some new prey

Lives ruined, is for them, no matter

Smashed heart? Done. Step over the splatter

Yes- Dark and angry.

Ouch Gary. That's pretty angry. And yeah predators are out there not caring. This brought up a lot of questions but the poem doesn't answer them.

It almost feels like a warning.

Thanks for reviewing, Tim. Yeah, it's just me getting some stuff out. And I guess it is a kind of warning. Feeling a little dark today, and I detest those who prey. I've dealt with these kind of people for years, and I can spot them a mile away... but for many, they are so good at what they do, they have no clue... they become victims. I'll try to write something happier next time :) . Cheers, my friend... Gary...

Dark and angry, but very true and heartfelt! I think you should keep exploring these emotions. They make for excellent poems, even if they bring up bad memories.Might be good to put hem in writing to get them out,

I love that you make us feel how you feel meeting these predators.

Thank you, Puppilull. The hardest part is when you see one in action, and you're powerless to do anything about it. If it's about you, once you've learned, it's much easier, but some of these guys are so insidious... they are masters at manipulation. To many of them it's just playing... they pretend, even to themselves sometimes that it's real... and those are the worst kind of all. Sorry for going on and on. I appreciate the review... cheers...Gary...

You've painted a portrait of a heartless and empty soul. Cruel and self absorbed to the core.

I think too, there is hubris at work here as well. People like this - it's quite a sad thing that they exist - thrive on being ahead of everyone else.

How can something so empty cause so much destruction?

Selfish people care about what they can take. They have no respect for their fellow man. I have no use for such self centered people. Some manipulation is so subtle as to be undetectable, until it's too late, and your life and your heart is in shambles. Unfortunately, some of us will believe anything rather than think the worst... thanks for the review, my friend... cheers... Gary...

 oh yeah..dark and angry.

Toxic people. We'd do well to be rid of them forever, but they are insidious.

Glad you got that out though.. I don't like Angry Gary, even though he writes great poetry..

LOL... sorry, Def... I just needed to vent, and maybe give warning. I'll put angry Gary away now. Thanks for the review, my friend... cheers... Gary...

This is like a glimpse into the destructive wake left by a psychopath. From the protective feel I get the feeling that someone made the mistake of hurting someone you care about.

I felt powerless, so I guess this was my way of compensating. Mind games...evil games... sometimes they don't even see what they do... they are too self absorbed...thanks for reviewing, Lit... cheers... Gary...

I'm glad that wasn't directed at me. A very obvious slap upside the head for a person either too obtuse to hear or more likely uncaring. Your poetry is without fail moving whether in light or dark.

Thank you, dugh. Poetry gives me that opportunity to purge. It's why I like it so much. It's a great way to deal with memories or feelings. I've learned a lot in my abundant years, and it felt good to get this out. Cheers, buddy... Gary...
