Moggy's Mutterings - 12. Gone

1.
She waited.
She always waited.
"I'm still here" she said
"Oh, yes, so you are. We forgot" they chorused
"i know" she whispered.
But still she waited.
She tried not to hope.
She said to herself,
"next time will be better." and she waited.
But next time never came.
For she had finished her usefulness

2.
Hope died today. It wasn’t easy or quick.
It was so slow that no one saw.
Hope just faded away, with out so much as a whisper.
Hope died today, and no one noticed.

3.
Gone
passing through life.
Never touching.
Never touched.
Gone with breeze.
Never to be felt again.
Was something just here?

Three portraits of despair are presented here. Each one is as devastating as the other. Number 2 was especially powerful: the death of Hope would be a cataclysmic tragedy. And to have it pass unnoticed compounds the sadness. These are very well wrought poems.

thank you. i agree, losing hope is a tragedy as is going unnoticed. some days i wonder which is worse

This got me Moggy.. I agree with Parker though.. Hope is that thing that gets us through the darkness, that light at the end of the tunnel.mto have it die would indeed be a tragedy. But, you did say 'Hope died today' which gives me hope that there's tomorrow..
