J.A.M.

Chapter 19

By Wesley Lewis

Entry 57

Today was hard. Not just for me but for Wesley too. He was inconsolable. I don’t know how he managed to keep everything bottled up this long. It was his mother’s funeral today and I was reminded of my own parents’ funeral. I’ve got to give Wesley credit though, he didn’t cry until after the funeral. It took me and Seamus both an hour to calm him down after we got him back home. After I got home I wasn’t feeling up for much company either. It was the first time in about two years that I had gotten depressed about my parents being gone. Dad came in and talked to me for a few minutes before hugging me and telling me he would always be there to talk.

Entry 58

Today was a better day than yesterday. Phillip came by and kept me company while the dads went out shopping. We stayed in my room until lunchtime listening to music and just cuddling. One of the things about Phillip is he knows just what I need and doesn’t pressure me for more than what we are both comfortable with. When I asked him why he didn’t try and get me to do more sexual things with him he said he didn’t think he was ready for that step, and honestly, I knew I wasn’t ready either. When the dads got back we helped them unload everything and get it put away. While we were doing that, the phone rang, and Pop answered. After about twenty minutes, Pop hung up the phone and said we’d be getting an emergency foster placement and would be here shortly. When I asked who it was he just told me I’d find out when they got here. It turned out to be Melvin!! Apparently, there were troubles at home and his father had been arrested and Tommy didn’t have any room at his apartment. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always wanted a brother, but Melvin was not what I had in mind as a brother. When he saw me, he went white and looked like a deer caught in headlights. We were left alone while the adults worked out the details. I did manage to get some information from him. When I asked him why his father was arrested he just broke down and started to cry. I tried comforting him, but he just wouldn’t stop. Dads came rushing in and immediately started comforting him. I felt so guilty for making him cry. I’ve been told I’m too nosy for my own good, but I didn’t see it until that moment. I apologized quickly and ran out of the room, not being able to look at the damage I caused. I’ve never felt so horrible. About an hour later dad came in and told me Melvin had calmed down and was sleeping. He wasn’t upset or anything either he wanted to check on me and ask me why I ran up the stairs. When I told him the reason, he laughed and said he was the same way. He told me that Melvin’s dad wasn’t very nice and abused Melvin and he was still in shock of it all. When Melvin woke up I apologized for being nosy and we just played videogames until dinner time. I think this was the first time in a while that he was able to be a normal teen and I honestly enjoyed the time I spent with him. Well that’s all for tonight guess I’ll write more tomorrow.

Yay!!!  My boy is back! I hope Wesley is going to be okay, poor kid. I bet Melvin just about pooped his dacks when he saw where he was. What a good kid JAM is putting aside his own dislike for Melvin to try and make sure he felt welcome in the home and family. I hope Melvin starts to change his ways with the positive role models. Thank you Wesley.

We should start to see a definite change pin Melvin now that he has better role models.

JAM, it is not nosiness, it is concern.  Melvin will need to talk about what has happened and being with a peer, even one you may not like, will help a great deal.  Just work on the bridges you have built and don't be afraid of any set backs.  Thanks Wesley for the new chapter and glad you are feeling better..

Thanks I'm looking to post more regularly now

At both my mother’s and my father’s (separate by about 2 years) memorial services, I couldn’t stop crying. It was all the emotion in the room that overwhelmed me. I hadn’t cried up until then, but watching sad TV episodes or reading sad chapters makes me cry a whole lot more than they used to.

Same here with the sad chapters and stuff. I've only been to two funerals in my life and didn't know what to feel

😎………..…..Well, nice going and I'm only 9 months late!  But I do have a good excuse.  My eyes were going on me (I still have treatments involving injections into my eyes once a month) but the VA took care of my cataracts and did the surgery, and new lense in them, just got the new glasses on Monday. Plus I beat out 2 different cancers during the year, the prostate is cured, and the cancer in the lung is in remission.  Not bad for an old Marine Vietnam vet.

I hope Wesley recovers form his loss, I don't know but I can only assume that his mother wasn't always a terrible person.  Melvin was a big surprise, and sounds like a self-loathing closet case, perhaps his father found out recently. however I suspect his abuse has been going on for a long time anyways.  Good chapter!

Have you ever talked to @R. Eric? He’s younger than you are, but he’s also a vet with cataracts and vision-impairment. He’s been struggling with his writing because of his issues…

😎………...Nope, can't say I have, but the VA was great and my eyesight is much (MUCH) better then before 12/28/16 is when they sent me to a specialist for eye injections.  I had an (for lack of a better term) eye stroke, the inside of the eyes are still ruptured and after 2 years they are using a different medication, they decided to fix the cataracts in the mean time so that I could see.
