The Great Mirror of Same-Sex Love - Poetry - 48. A Tardy Little Valentine for Sunny

.

A Tardy Little Valentine for Sunny

Sonnet:

In the still time of the coming morning

The gray sky reflects your still sleeping face,

And I wonder what token love-shorning

Could fair this day enough to match that grace.

A bushel of camellias, strongly red;

Or a bunch of plum blossoms plucked for you;

Or some shy Adonis poking his head

Blondly away from lovesick Love’s kissing due.

But could bold color or my dull fustian

Hold as my hands can in untroubled clime

Waiting for day to break the frustration

And guide the world to love a better time?

For then I’ll see the narcissic daffodils turn

To envy your soul, and there, true beauty learn.

So beautiful! Thank you, @AC Benus. Let me share the poem I posted today on my blog, it’s not as beautiful, but is as hard felt as your sonnet.

Heart on the Mend
My heart did stop
sharing its beats,
echoing with others,
uniting bloods and souls,
breathing just one air,
feeling just one light.

My heart did bleed
the blood of rejection,
the wounds needed to learn;
and started to beat again
while feeling without sharing,
while sharing without missing
any smile, any light.

My heart did lose
its beat, its harmony;
it got unbalanced (and scared):
it didn’t know where to send
all this love which stayed back
as an orphan starved for caresses.

Thanks, JACC, and thanks for sharing. Your heart poem almost has a pulse all its own. One can both feel and hear it

It is a beautiful picture you paint of this daybreak, and of the colors and their avatars you describe. The shy Adonis really got to me especially.

Thank you, Parker. The "...from lovesick Love’s kissing due" is in reference to Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis, a poem I fell hard for just around this time in my life. Thanks for pointing out that line specifically and making my day. Muah

Then please share it here by all means! ❤️

Send you both hugs. ❤️ Lyssa

Translation of the Sonett:

Im Schweigen des anbrechenden Tages

Spiegelt der wolkenverhangen Himmel dein schlafendes Gesicht.

Und ich frage mich: Welches Liebespfand könnte den Tag in gleicher Anmut erhellen.

Ein Bund Kamelien in leuchtendem Rot;

Oder Pflaumenblüten gepflückt für dich

Vielleicht ein zartes Adonisröschen,

das seine helle Krone den Küssen der Liebe entzieht.

Aber können kühne Farben oder mein tristes Gewebe halten,

was meine Hände können, in stetiger Linie.

Thank you again. It's touching to read my thoughts through the prism of another's mind. It's very special feeling, one I find I cannot really describe very well. But please know you have touched me by doing this. Muah
