Gold is a killer. Sadly still true today (more than ever), and needed desperately to be printed on buttons, bumper stickers, posters, memes and tee-shirts!! (to be sold at Target, goddamnit)

I really enjoyed reading this. I still possess two or three bandanas (red and gold, at least). Now I shall have to be more conscious of my pocket selection. 

I had only heard of a small part of this.  Interesting.

Well, the above is only a spoof. Attached is a guide to the real meanings. Interestingly enough, the origins of this go back to at least the beginning of the 19th century, and was initially used by sailors and merchant marines looking for fun. Herman Melville makes mention of it in his book on life in the U.S. Navy White-Jacket (New York 1850)
