Greetings my little chickadees.
Let's get everyone to shout out a chickadee call. Chick a dee dee dee
No, sadly I'm not drunk. Just a name I occasionally call people. Why, i don't know How about yourself, what is a name you call a group of friends that you know? Mates, pals, gals, ladies, men, boys. girls. Please don't light up the Moderation Teams PM and Alert system by using that British term for a finch, as it is not allowed on GA. Why you ask. There are certain words that Goog

As always, we thank all these authors once again for participating. If it is not too much trouble, would you be willing to write a review for these authors? Even if some of them are no longer around, I'm sure other readers will appreciate the effort. The authors that are still with us surely will.

Ask an Author 2.0 - #5
Welcome back y’all. So far this year we’ve featured seven different authors in this blog; this month we add four new ones to the mix. I’ll continue to showcase different ones as long as you keep sending in your questions. Remember this is your chance to ask any author anything you want. The identity of the member asking the questions shall remain a secret in order to protect the guilty. J

We've recently had a couple of noticeable updates for authors and for everyone pasting a story link. I wanted to make sure everyone saw the information.
First, some changes to the software:
Also, A.J. has been able to fix the Preview Chapter button so you can now see how your story will post into the system, with all of the filters applied:
As mentioned in the first topic, when you place a link to a story in a post or a blog, etc, it will now format with a story banner.
Happy March! This month I'm bringing you something a little different. March makes me think of St. Patrick's Day and magic... so I looked for stories that would fit the bill. What better than the magical world of Harry Potter? Plus, I've never featured a fanfic. So why not give JulieLHayes' novella-length story a try?

Eek! Sorry for the lateness of the wrap up! I completely spaced that today was Sunday when I went to bed last night. Before we get started with the wrap up, a huge thank you to @wildone for doing the wrap up for me the last couple weeks! Since I'm already late doing this, lets get right to the wrap up!

The Improve & Encourage feature is back!!! These features are meant to both provide feedback to authors and, similar to story reviews, point out stories that readers might not otherwise have found. It's similar to a review, in that the person doing the critique tells you what they liked about the story, but it differs in that they also provide constructive criticism. Each author signed up to participate, and sign up's are still open! These will post once a month until all listed authors hav
There are a lot of settings and options on the site. It can be a real chore for people who don't make a habit of clicking on things. I'll admit, I'm an engineer, and I tend to explore every option. I realize most people aren't as shiny object driven, however.
So... settings. You can find the link in the pop-up menu under your Display Name on the upper right part of the site. (Or in the hamburger menu if you are on a mobile device). Choose "Account Settings".

How's February treated everyone? I know it's the shortest month of the year, but it feels like it can't possibly have already passed this quickly! But, it has, and today is the discussion day for David AB's All We Have Now. Did you get a chance to read or re-read this story posted back in 2015? Make sure you gave the author a few likes, comments, or even share your thoughts and questions below. David's going to pop in as he can today, so let's encourage him to share more stories by sharing how m

Did you catch Monday's blog where we featured Jack Scribe's story, It Stays in Vegas? You can also download an image there for your signature if you want to share your enjoyment of the story and promote it to fellow readers! If you haven't read it yet, maybe this excerpt will help you decide to put it on your list! And, if you do read and enjoy it, make sure you leave some comments and reviews. The author might be gone, but let's make sure his great stories aren't forgotten!

I created an announcement a few weeks ago asking people for topics they wanted to be covered here in more detail. You can find it here:
One of those requests was how to we make the fancy links, like I use in my post signature to link to my story. It's really, really simple. Just copy the link in the url address bar and then paste the link to a story on the site into an editor, and it'll auto format for you. For example, I could paste a link to my Sci-Fi Anthology story, A Bad Day to Be
February is short and often gone before we know it. Jack Scribe is an author that many readers from GA will miss as well. But we still have some of his stories to enjoy, including his Las Vegas Trilogy. If you're in the US, you're probably ready for some sunshine and heat, so enjoy this first story in the series, It Stays in Vegas!

Hi All!
Recently, site staff has been reviewing stories on GA, and we’ve come across a few things that we need your help to fix!
Missing/Incomplete Story Descriptions:
A good example of missing/incomplete story descriptions can be found in many of the earlier anthologies. Many of these stories simply have a description of “2006 Summer Anthology”. Incomplete descriptions do nothing to engage readers or entice them to read your story. When updating the story description, keep in m

Well, it's the start of a new week, and for today's schedule, we're bringing you Puppilull's review of Shifter by skinnydragon. If you're reading a story that you would like to do a blog review and bring attention to, PM me (Renee). Now, onto the review. Hopefully you enjoy Puppilull's review enough to go check ou

Reassurance in storytelling provides emotional safety and reduces anxiety, helping audiences process complex realities and feel less alone.
Why Reassurance Matters:
Reduces Anxiety: Stories that offer comfort or a predictable structure help lower stress and calm the nervous system (insights via Headspace).
Validates Emotions: Reassurance through narrative lets readers know their struggles are shared and normal.
The word reassurance comes from the verb reassure with the noun suffix -ance that describes an action, state, or conditio. Reassurance was initially used to mean a repeated confirmation, a renewed pledge, or a financial term for a second insurance policy against a risk. In 18/5 the emotional meaning of restoring someone's courage, certainty, or confidence became widespread.
The noun "reassurance" was first used in English in 1611 in the writings of John Florio, a linguist and author, acc
"My little chickadee" was W.C. Fields' trademark catchphrase. He also starred in the 1940 file "My Little Chickadee" alongside Mae West.
The Forbidden Author contests have been difficult, but fun, although I wish more people had voted for the best story. Maybe you still have time, if you hurry, so see what you can do.
@wildone Your question, @drpaladin and answer, left me more confused than ever.
I found 3 sites that finally explained what the actual differences are. More important, why you would choose one over the other. Fortunately I am as they say, not exactly well off, so the choice is not a consideration I need worry about.
