Napervic: 1968 - 2013, Rest In Peace

It's with great sadness that we report that one of our most notable members, NaperVic, passed away recently.

As many of you know, Vic was an active guy who enjoyed working out and running with his dog Mina. He had been warming up for a race when he suffered a major heart attack. After being rushed to the hospital, he remained unconscious until he slipped into a coma. Though he put up an amazing fight to survive, he finally succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Vic has been active on GA for over 8 years and has touched the lives of so many people here. He's always been that friend you could lean on when times were tough. His personality is matched by none, and he will be greatly missed. The hole many of us will feel in our heart where Vic once was may never be filled, but our loving memories of him will live on forever.

Here's to you, Vic. May you rest in peace knowing you made the world a better place. We invite those who experienced this wonderful man to leave your thoughts here or in the thread we've started in DomLuka's forum.

Even if I was not around too much in last months, I will always remember the great time I had talking to you in GA Chat. You will always be the Stud! ;) Gonna miss you lots!

Sad news.  I only knew Vic through chat, but he always came across as friendly and energetic.  I will miss him.  :(

Like some, I only had come across vic through chat from time to time. But it's shocking that another has been lost (even if the last one was fake, or not) it stills rips to my bones. May his family know rest, peace, and serenity and may God give them comfort in their time of need.

Very shocking and sad.  He was always dependably friendly and a supportive presence.  I'm sure he'll be missed by many here at GA and in other realms of his life.

We didn't talk much but the few times we did talk you were always kind and inspiring to me. I hate to see you gone but I know you are in a much better place. My condolences goes out to your faimly, your friends, and all here in the GA faimly who have been touched, blessed, inspired, or made to feel they had a friend in you. You will be missed dearly.

D: I'm devastated to hear of this news. I knew Vic only lightly, but I enjoyed several conversations with him on chat and I remember fondly his love of DomLuka's work. He will be missed by everyone I am sure. Rest in peace Vic!

Wow. :(  I don't even know what to say. Vic was such a unique guy, but as other said, he was always ready to step in and say the right thing when you needed it. He was funny, friendly, encouraging and wise. I can't say we talked a lot, but he always treated me like we were life long friends.  I am truly saddened by the passing of such a bright and warming light. We - GA, his friends, the world - are poorer for his far too premature departure.

I think I'll echo what MikeL said - thank you Vic - my life is better for having known you.

I wasn't part of the group that knew Vic well. However that doesn't mean Vic didn't make an impression or let you know he was there. Vic would come into the chat room and was his own source of life.

I think within the first five minutes of meeting Vic, I was sure of three things. 1) He was the number one fan of Dom. If you hadn't read his works, or like me, didn't have a clue of who he was, Vic was more than willing to fill you in on this writer. 2) Vic was sort of a guide. He was quick to introduce himself, say hello, and chat about almost anything. I don't think he had a mean thing to say about anyone or anything. 3) He was an integral part of the GA community. He didn't have a title and really never needed one. Vic was just a part of the daily working of the place. You didn't need to ask because it was just accepted.

I know he will be missed by many. His impact is already felt and hole he left will not be filled by another. All I can do is add my condolences to those that have already come, and offer my sympathy to his family and many friends. Rest in Peace Vic.

I saw this announcement 2 days ago but didn't manage to post a comment untl now. I am very sorry and sad to hear of these news. While I can't claim to have known Vic very well, I chatted quite a few times with him over the past 3 years. His presence always boosted chat conversation and he gave his attention to everyone. I will remember several conversations about long-distance running and roller-blading (something that we had in common), and how he teased me a bit about dating a Filipino.

Rest in peace, Vic

Like Bleu I saw/heard of this announcement (through Andy) a couple days ago. I thought I had made a post but it seems I either didnt submit it correctly or something happened to not allow it to post.

Regardless to say this was a shock is an understatement. It is a great loss to the world to have such a brightly shining and welcoming spirit removed from it. Even though I didn't know Vic terribly well, he was always friendly, charming and a genuinely good person in all of my experiences with him. He will be terribly missed, and the community, GA or otherwise, is lessened by his passing.

I wish his family and close friends all the best during this time and during their mourning. Life does go on without the ones we love the most, after we've learned how to continue our paths without their light helping guide our way, and Vic's was a light that could illuminate for miles.

Rest in Peace Vic, for now and until we meet again.
