Hello everyone, sounds like I finally got the recognition I deserved :D. You all can now call me the Grand Poo-bah :gikkle: (check out the Words Of The Day). Actually I laughed when I saw that. For years and years I worked for the Calgary Flames as a rink rat, but I was isolated at the other end of the rink from the other 3 guys I worked with. They monthly had one of the three be the Grand Poo-bah. But looks like I get the name in the end ;).

Speaking of being called names :o. I thought I would check in this week on what your childhood nicknames were? Not ones that maybe the school yard bully called you or an older sibling, but what about endearing nicknames from when you were growing up? I was always called Rooster, but never knew why? A while ago I was perusing the interwebs and found that the pro hockey team in the town I was born were called the Roosters. Also there was Stevie and when mom was mad at me, or @Krista, I was Steven ;). 

So what about you?

Oh boy, childhood nicknames. In Boy Scouts, I was quickly labeled "Mini Me," as I was short and hadn't obtained the after-puberty man voice everyone else had (I'm still waiting...). On my first day of college, a group of fraternity members quickly ganged up and called me "Little Bickett." My height played a factor once again, as I resembled a recent alumnus, whose last name was Bickett. On eves of drunken stupor and through the evolution of auto-corrected text messages, Bickett turned into "Bucket," and the sorority ladies called me "Biscuit" and "Bisquik." After obtaining little brothers in the fraternity, I became "Biggles," and soon adopted a nursing moniker as I often assisted brothers when they were ill. "Nurse Bickett" was immediately added to the list. 

I'm excited to see some others' nicknames! Great wrap-up, @wildone!

I never really had a nickname when I was a child, which I always thought was strange. My brother was "Pooky"  :gikkle: I always went by my full first name until sixth grade, when my teacher shortened it.  I hated it, but she didn't listen to me and called me by my shortened name anyway 🙄  I find it interesting that people tend to automatically shorten my name, even when I introduce myself with my full name.  I don't mind it when my friends do it, but it really annoys me when strangers do it, because it implies a familiarity that isn't there.  I insist on using my full name professionally and have had to request documents at work and for organizations I volunteered for to be changed because they used the shortened version of my name.  :facepalm: In high school, my BFF called me "Ace".  In college, my group of friends all had nicknames.  I was really into the outdoors and was a member of the Hiking Club, so my nickname was "Woody"... short for "Woodsy Owl".  🦉  I have another nickname now with my BFFs that's a play on my real name.  And, of course, there's "Valkyrie" ;)  

P.S. Now I'm torn between calling Steve "Grand Pooh-Bah" or "Rooster" instead of "Deposed Despot" :unsure: :gikkle:

I don’t really like my name. When I was a kid I pretended not to hear when anyone called me by my first name. As soon as they used my nickname I suddenly regained my hearing :funny: 

I have a few nicknames, Cattis is what my family calls me but at work I have another nickname, same one as I use on Instagram -_-

Exacly!! I’ve been grumpy all day because of that ;)

I never had a nickname as a child; my birth name is two syllables over four letters. All the nicknames I've ever had, I came up with myself, so I don't know if it counts. :P

I didn’t really have a nickname either, but sometimes my mom called me “inside out and backwards” because that’s how I liked to wear my shirts when I was 4.

stuck rooster GIF I kind of see the resemblance Steven, maybe that is the reason? Also, I had some not-so-flattering nicknames growing up. I didn't answer to them aside from giving people the stink eye or side-eye that typically shut them up. I guess Krista counts, but that was self-derived. Some of the unflattering ones were, 'Legs,' because I have long legs. I know, real inventive there, but boys called me that so  go figure. My Volleyball coach called me, "Brick Wall," because I was a pretty good blocker when it came time to. :P But then again, it was easy being the best blocker when I was easily the tallest person on the team (District really). My basketball coach called me Hossetta - the feminine version of Hoss. I never found it flattering, but still it was because of my height. I was taller than the Center on the boy's team, mind you.  Again, none of these aren't all that inventive and I don't want them repeated at me. *Pre-emptively glares at Steven* so please, please, no.
