Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 23 - Mar. 1)

I'm writing this blog on Saturday, so it happens to be World Compliment Day. Now most are reading it on Sunday, so let's pretend it is still Saturday . Now I handed out a lot of personal compliments today, but then @Valkyrie replied and ruined my day! How rude!! I do think I am above her taunts and meaniness, so let me move forward and compliment each and everyone of you that help make GA a great place to be! You may not realize it, but even the smallest things like joining and coming to visit, throw out a like or two, or even more like commenting, reviewing. posting, writing a story, all contributes to the community. So way to go!! :worship: You are the best!!!

Oh, for the record @Valkyrie came back and complimented me too :gikkle: She is now forgiven 0:)

What else happened this week. I think it was Wednesday when the night before when I went to bed, it was -37 C or -34.6 F and woke up in the morning it was + 4 C or 39.2 F 😮. My nose was bleeding due to the 40+ degree change and the air pressure with it. Snow, what snow? That was a thing of the past :P . I am not going to count my chickens before they hatch though, we are definitely not in spring. Although this confuses things. @Slytherin friends, the bears, will be thinking it is time to wake up and begin to forage :o. Trees will start to get buds and hopefully not open, or the buds will freeze on the next cold snap and fall off and die :(

Now to finish up on a happy note. I went to Denny's last week with some family, and found out that I got a Senior's discount :P Should I be happy, or mad? You decide.

So what happened in the past week at the GA News Blog?

Monday, Cia thought it was a great time to have the CSR Discussion Day:

Tuesday, our trusty leader did a Deep Dive on this genre:

Thursday, Val did a check in on all the upcoming Anthologies. How are you coming along?

Finally on Friday, Val and Aditus were back to discuss a new Prompt Feature they launched a few weeks ago. Check it out and leave a comment if you liked it:

Now how did you y'all do ( or is ya'll?) on the Words of the Day? BTW, I thought I was feeling pretty hansom today :P. I guess I never got them all :gikkle:

bliss, capricious, inauspicious, bacillus, quahog, hansom, deleterious

Thanks to all the GA admins, visitors, posters, commentators, bloggers, writers and readers.  Especially thanks to those that financially contribute.

Steve wrote:  "I went to Denny's last week with some family, and found out that I got a Senior's discount"

That reminded me of a line in a story I read this past week that made me laugh.  It said "No one plans to go to Dennys' they end up at Dennys."

One of the best memories I have of a close friends older brother by a couple of years, who passed away in his mid twenties of cancer, was going to Denny's at like 2 AM, all of us drunk and lucky to get a cab, or even in for that matter, and the trouble we got in there 0:) all led by Dave.

RIP Dave, meet you in Denny's again someday

PS, this is a happy memory

Am I allowed to compliment myself for being brave enough to became GA member?! 🤔:gikkle:

Well, we are a terrifying bunch, like... never knowing if you're going to bite in and get the nasty orange creamcicle flavor.

We had snow days 2 weeks ago, then 60s this week. Yeah, the world is weird. Today, however, it is gray and rainy, my FAVORITE. Yes, I am truly a red-headed vampire as my family claims me to be. I live in the Pac NW for a reason. @wildone always does a great job summing up the week, but it truly is a big job working together to keep all the events going. I'm glad to be on such a dedicated team! Thanks to everyone who is always working together to keep GA going, from the staff volunteers to the site members who participate!

I actually prefer overcast days myself.  I love a nice, gloomy day, especially if there are dark clouds and a breeze.  Perfect time to go for a walk with all that energy in the air!  The sun does nasty things to my Anglo-Saxon skin and hurts my eyes.  So maybe I'm a vampire too   🧛‍♀️  I also like it cold, which is why I live in WNY.

We did!! When I was a little kid (think age 3-10 before he remarried) my dad would travel the 1.5 hours up to a truck stop to meet my mom's parents, who were long-haul truck drivers, and we'd always get a meal together at the Denny's they had at the stop. I have fond memories of the dark brown curved mugs with hot cocoa topped high with cold whipped cream and the claw machine in the lobby. That was a weird special circumstance, though. I can't think of a single time as a teen or adult that we were like... "Oh hey, you know what sounds good for dinner? Denny's!" LOL It's always been that we were super *ahem* partied out, and it was 2 AM. Where else do you go??

For me, it was Perkins.  Their food is far superior to Denny's.  I could eat breakfast food for all three meals 🤤
