Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 22 to Aug 2)

Hello GA'ers :P Or would that be GA'yers  I like GA'ers better

So thank the unusual weather here in my neck of the woods. I got woken up by a thunderstorm and have kind of been watching the lighting storm lighting up the bedroom. Whilst doing so, I said to myself, 'Self, did you do the Wrap Up last night before bed?' I knew I had not, so here I am at 3:15 AM wrapping things up :)

I was out to a smaller town called Golden, BC the past few days. Took two my my nephews to the highest suspension bridge in North America and actually made it across. Then ziplined back across the canyon and took the lower suspension bridge to do the mountain coaster. You regulate your speed, I left the brakes off and loved it!! I thought of @TalonRider as I was going down ;). The boys enjoyed the adventure park which was them way up in the trees doing different obstacles on 4 different courses that I could never attempt :(. We skipped the axe throwing as we were all too tired at that time.

Now if you had a park like that, don't you think you'd be filling your machines with the $5 bottles of water and other beverages other than pop on a ridiculously hot day? Nope, everything sold out but pop :(. Water, Gatorade, Iced Tea and pop was all the same price.

Next day we went white water rafting down the Kicking Horse river! It was a great trip and everyone had a blast!!! There was like 11 rafts in our group and it was nuts going down the river doing class 2, 3 and 4 rapids. It is 5 km (3 miles) where you drop a total of 137 meters (450 feet) in about 1.5 hours. Luckily nobody fell out of their boats or flipped their rafts, but everyone definitely got wet :gikkle:.

Now if you ever been to B.C. (British Columbia) it does have its unofficial nickname, Bring Cash ;) I had to save all the pop bottles from the kids to help pay for some of this trip :gikkle:.  But the boys had a blast and I guess they have told just about everyone they know. Took the 16 and 13 y/o nephews. The 18 y/o decided to go to Indianapolis for World Drum and Brass championships I guess. So I will have to make it up to him when he gets back. At least I know when I take him out to a fancier restaurant, he will probably eat all that he ordered, unlike his younger brothers :gikkle:.

How about you all? Any exciting vacation days taken? This was unplanned but I knew I couldn't go camping this year. Did you get away 1 day to do something wild and crazy? if not, just do it ;)

Side note: Do you think I should have told a certain author beforehand that I was going to do what some may consider life threatening activities, so she knows that I might not finish looking over her chapters before she posts? I didn't see it as a problem :D

Well let's get onto the wrap up before I see the sun

Monday, Cia had a great interview to finish up the past months CSR Feature's author. Give it a read, it was really great!!

Myr went all spooky on us when he did the Deep Dive into the Horror Genre:

We kind of had a malfunction at the junction for the rest of the week :) Cia wrote a blog, just never got formatted as a blog :gikkle: I only have one thing to do per week on the GA schedule here, I would hate to think all the mistakes I would personally make if I had to do what she does daily and weekly 😮. The blog did get up on Friday though. If you read any of the Secret Author stories, make sure you check this one out:

Now here is the Words of the Day as provided by Myr:

proliferate, vellichor, yaffle, zenith, apathetic, cosmology, cryptid

And since I'm so late... here is today's word too :P:

heliotropism

Wow.  That suspension bridge is even taller than the Capilano Suspension Bridge originally built in 1889.  It has been rebuilt at least twice.

So glad that you and your nephews had such a great time.  Not one for heights here in general but sounds exciting.

Six of the eight words were a go, not bad.

Hope everyone has read the secret author stories on the latest contest, some really good ones.  And if you have, please VOTE.

I think we went to Lynn Canyon Bridge as it was free when I was really little, but don't think I ever made it to the Capilano one as it charged admission, @ReaderPaul. Being a family of 5 and dad in the military we didn't usually have a ton of free money to spend.

Didn't one year someone try to cut the cables on the Capilano Suspension Bridge too? 😮

So far, I have not run into that information in my research, but it would not surprise me.
