Another great chapter! :2thumbs: I truly got to experience Rory's state of craziness...there's the kiss at the water park on Sunday; Luke's reaction to Aaron being on the boat ride; waiting for the package all Monday morning wondering if his whole life has been a lie; the package doesn't arrive with the mailman; he's thinking of Aaron and all the why's around the kiss and trying to decide whether to call him; Luke makes a brief appearance at lunch; the package arrives UPS after Luke leaves; Grandma Alice's note on the package; Rory can't reach his dad to get him to come home; Aaron shows up; the conversation with Aaron on route; and finally ending with Aaron's revelations.

I'm amazed that Rory is still upright.

Not only that, it was :lmao: funny!

The funniest part for me was Rory swimming in the pool while glaring at the unopened package on the patio table and humming the theme from Jaws. I mean think back to the first time you watched Jaws and the anxiety you were feeling, especially when the music was playing. Too, too much.

15 minutes after the package had arrived, Rory is talking himself into opening the package because his dad hadn't shown up yet. I mean all Eddie had to do was finish up his court case, get back to the office, check his messages and immediately drive home. Yeah, 15 minutes is more than enough time to do that. No problem. Eddie must be purposefully avoiding him. :P

Aaron's back at the front door after Rory asked him to wait. Aaron says, "...if you

Perfect synopsis - just missing one other element...

Rory ADMITTING that he was Eddie's son... talking to Eddie's secretary. He was so desparate to get a hold of Eddie - he did it without even thinking about it...

You're right on there, Trebs. That was the best thing that happened in the chapter - for Rory anyway. :2thumbs:

You're not supposed to get one - how else can we talk about how we're to trick you and Dom into not reading each other's stories, so you can focus more on writing, if you know about it?!?

<gulp>

Um, did I say that out loud? Never mind - ignore that... nothing to see here...

Just move on...

I see...well it's going to take an extra day to get out DOR 16. I need to re-read the entire DD, TOU, and TLW stories and then cry for a day because there's just so much angst and cliffies.

It's been my experience that when Dom says soon, that means 'in two days'.

Yep, Rory is a little S L O W. Wondered how Dom was gonna have him find/figure out what was going on...thought maybe he'd see Eddie & Jase making out or something. Then, when Luke suggested the attic, I thought, "Ok, here we go. Rory will find some mementos up there that will clue him in." So, I was surprised about Aaron being the one to tell him. (And, "Hello, Rory? Luke's long time former best friend has just kissed you! Doesn't that raise some questions in your mind about Luke? Just a teensy bit?")

I am thinking that Mom decided to keep Rory a secret so Eddie would be free to pursue his life as a gay man. She and Eddie clearly 'experimented' a little (at least once!) and then Eddie probably came out to her. Or, maybe, he came out and she had sex w/ him to try to prove he really did have feelings for her. At any rate, they broke up and then she found out she was preggers. Had she told him, Eddie would have done the honorable thing and married her. By keeping it secret, she let's him go on w/his life w/o the complication. I am not saying this was smart of her, but it is a motivation that is honorable for her.

So, how is Rory going to react? Not well, I think. I foresee more cactus in his near-term future. He has been on a major emotional roller coaster and has tended to respond with tantrums in the past. The make-up scene to come w/Luke could be fun....

So, do we think that Eddie/Jase/Luke know about Rory? Clearly, Mom sent Rory to Eddie so that he would have a healthy gay role model. Did she explain that to Eddie? Or, ask Grandma Alice to do so? Has Grandma Alice divulged that bit of news to Eddie on her own initiative? Probably, none of the above. In all probability, Eddie is clueless (just how obvious is Rory?) and everyone in the house is trying to keep everything "on the down low" to give Rory a chance to catch his breath before breaking this news. The package from Mom would have undoubtedly brought things out in the open w/o help from Aaron.

I have no use for Aaron (and not just because that is the name of my S/O's ex, who was a louse---the ex, not my S/O). Other than a "love at first sight" complete head over heels infatuation w/Rory (hey, it happens), he is sniffing around Rory for any number of the wrong reasons. If he had any decency, he would understand why befriending Rory would be awkward for Rory, Luke, and himself. It isn't awkward for Aaron because he is an "asshole" (moderator, I am not using that word, just quoting the story!) Or, he is so consumed by anger/petulance over Luke that he is using Rory to get back at him. Or, he is so narcissisitic (could we get a spell check over here, please?) that he is just enjoying toying w/Rory for the sheer pleasure of it w/o a thought to the consequences to either Rory, Luke, or anyone else. Hey, for Aaron, it's all about Aaron. Like I said, I don't like the SOB (ok, that wasn't a quote, that was all me...)

All righty, then. It is 3:00 AM (Dom has done it to me again!). So, I'll bring this little epic to a close. Thank you, Dom, for these stories and the characters that inhabit them. Now, get back to work on NEW CHAPTERS! Quit goofing off reading our stupid comments.

Cheers,

Kitty and notTed, I think you're both dead on about Mom's intentions. She kept the secret about her pregnancy so that Eddie could pursue his own life being a gay man.

When Luke first 'hinted' about the attic, I was screaming "Rory, GO TO THE ATTIC, NOW!" I was sure he would find the Rainbow flag and pictures of Jason and Eddie at a pride parade.

I never suspected that Aaron (the little slut) would be the one to break the news to Rory. The good news for Rory is now he'll have three role models to teach him how to use his 'gaydar' which to date is not turned on :lol: .

Once Rory and Luke both realize each other is gay (I think Luke 'suspects' that about Rory) and Rory finds out that cousin Luke isn't really his cousin, they can get in on! Unfortunately, Aaron (the little slut) will use his powers of persuasion and screw things up before that ever happens.

Excellent, notTed. :great: You just relieved a whole lot of tension for me. I could live with that, no problem. It's not perfect because Rory grew up without a dad in his life, but I would definitely let Rory's mom off the hook if that was her reason. I strongly believe that kids need a mom and a dad in their lives. I'm not saying single parents can't do a great job. They can and they do. Gay couples can also do a great job of raising children. It's just my thing, I guess.

But there is a flip side to being noble. Take, for example, a married man with older children who finds out he has a terminal disease. He decides, on his own, to not tell his family (until it becomes obvious) in order to spare them most of that ordeal. It's hard to put anyone down for doing that. But, in mind at least, he has denied his family the opportunity to support him during his remaining months. I would feel cheated.

Another issue that comes up for me is why didn't Rory's mom put herself back in the game. I mean, it's no picnic being a single parent. No, I'm not suggesting that she should have married the first dickhead who came along. But there it is.

I think it was chap 6 where Rory readily admits to Eddie that he grew up happy without a dad. Kudos to Rory for being honest, but I wonder how Eddie took that? That had to hurt somewhere deep in his psyche.

One last thing, isn't it great the way Grandma Alice continues to make her presense felt even when she isn't in the chapter, so to speak?

Hugs,

Maybe Rory's mom didn't get back in the game because she still loved Eddie and no one else would satisfy her emotionally that way again.

There are plenty of people out there like that, after losing a loved one, or being walked out on who never let themselves be hurt like that again, or who choose not to replace the love they feel for person A with a different love for person B. She might have been one of them.

Now, I can tell Tuesday is going to be a BIG day. We may stress the board out...New chapters of DD, DOR, and Service all might be coming out on the same day (the Service chapter is one of mine, btw, not Doms and is rated XXX for the sex - my editor said he had to wait a while before re-reading it because it kept on getting him horny). I'll just be happy if Dom gets that DD chapter out...c'mon man, I need it for motivation!

UUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dom you are evil evil evil, but I liked it.

I have to say that I have to agree again with Vic and notted in that Aaron is also evil and is somehow using Rory to get Luke. He did it once and will do it again.

As far as the Grandma is concerned, maybe we can introduce Jarrred to her.

I still disagree - Aaron was interested in Rory BEFORE he knew who he was... well... at least, he acted like he didn't know...

Treb,

Aaron (the little slut) probably had his eyes on Luke the minute he entered the park. My guess is that he saw Rory come to the park with Luke, wondered who the cutie was with his ex, and decided to 'bump' into said cutie and introduce himself. Aaron (the little slut) was probably scheming the minute he saw Rory with Luke.

That being said, I'll give Aaron (the little slut) the benefit of the doubt and see if he comes around. However, we will be keeping one eye on Aaron (the little slut) and our car keys.

Luke's friends mentioned Aaron being there - but as they were targetting him for water balloons, if Aaron was in sight, they would have at least motioned over to where he was...

Where as Luke (the trampy slut) constantly drops his clothing at a moment's notice, rubs his crotch into innocent Rory's ass, and even enter's Rory's window nude. Plus, if Luke (the trampy slut) was interested in Rory, kissing Dave's cheek in front of Rory doesn't show much fidelity.
