I have to say that I disagree with centex here. JP should never have helped that monster. Family or not, Brian has gone way too far. He went too far before now with the way he terrorized Matt. He's downright evil, and he deserves what's coming to him. What he deserves is definitely not the lap of luxury.

Good to see you back here! I think Brad and Stef would agree with you.

Just think...if Stefan had never said anything to JP about this doppleganger that showed up as a job applicant, they never would have heard of Brian. it's pretty amazing that someone as smart and resourceful as Brian is putting everything he has into revenge when he could have started INGDirect or something.

Well, I said nothing about him living in the lap of luxury... What I said, and stand by, is if he is totally down and out and living on the street, you can't leave him there. If you do then you are more *#%(@&* then he is.... If you can't get past it enough to help him off the street, then put him out of his misery like you would any animal. I don't think Brad or Stef either one, has the balls to truly do that, JP does but....

I agree on all points, but I can see why someone else would not. You, me, and JP are of the school that family is family is family, no matter how much you want to kill them. To be honest, I'm surprised Stef doesn't have more sympathy for that point of view, but I totally get why Brad doesn't. The man has spent his entire life denying family connections, he's honestly surprised that not everyone can do that. But the point that Brad and Stef are trying to get through to JP is that Brian, despite all of their efforts, is proving that he is not a member of the family. Through his own actions, he is a danger to the family as a whole and certain ones in particular. Just like you cannot be expected to give a drug-addicted cousin money over and over, knowing they'd just use it to get high again and not clean themselves up, JP has to stop supporting Brian. I hope someone makes that very arguement, actually. It'd get through to him, as all low blows do.

I understand that people typically believe that our biological relationships are 'family' and that seems to give the biological members some near-mystical power over the lives of other 'family members'. In my own experience and deep personal belief, family is a near sacred term used for those that one we can either be related to or that are chosen as members. It is not automatic due to biology. Biological kinship gives one a leg-up do to proximity and availabilty, but should not give one special rights or priviledges when it comes to their willingness to act as a true 'family member'. Why should the fact that one is biologically related give one the right to screw another family member over? Those outside of the family should be treated equally with respect and with compassion as long as they don't aggressively try to attack the family itself. For family members, at some point, and that may differ for all, someone may prove that their actions are not going to support their continued 'membership' and then they will have to fend for themselves. It has reached that place for Brian. I respect that Brad & Stef will fight back. They first accepted Brian, got hurt time and again, turned him away...but now, Brian is like a rabid dog and the family must be more aggressive in its defense and actively go after the aggressor. In this case, it is a very active defense, but what choice was left? JP may choose to 'retire', but I would hope that instead he sees this (eventually!) as a wake-up call and gets his head out of his ass and starts caring for the entire family. Agreed, in his world view he sees the individuals instead of the whole, but in this case, the individual (Brian) is a very active cancer that must be expunged before he further hurts everyone else. Brian, by his own actions, has forfeited his rights to support of any kind.

I just thought of something. Maybe JP's problem with letting go of Brian has to do with Jeff. JP is still guilty over Jeff. Thirty one years have passed but he still morns Jeff. Could he have done more? Jeff turned evil at the end. But deep down inside to JP he was the Jeff coming through the door late at night, the Teddy bear. Maybe JP can't live with another member of his family killing himself. JP has welcomed Robbie, Marcel. Matt and Frank all into the family because of Jeff. I know all of you a tired of me saying it but even after 31 years Jeff still has a presence. I hope JP shares all the reasons for his actions with Stef and Brad. JP will come to LA on Christmas Eve and beg for forgiveness. He must because behind all the hurt and angry words Stef and him love each other and they love Brad too. Brad loves JP For JP was the man who saved him all those many years ago. Come on Mark happy ends you love them.

I agree with you ..... as I said elsewhere, punish the bastard for being the evil dickwit he is, but treating him worse than a dog...... not nice, not civilised and it just lowers you to his level.

While I agree in theory, I have to disagree in practice. Brian has taken every opportunity to improve his life to instead hurt others. He could have learned when he was cheating on his bf, but instead used the chance to attack Matt. Instead of learning a lesson then, he then went to try and hurt JP and Wade. Then he took a third chance to become better and attacked Stefan, Brad and Robbie. Brian has only proved himself to be a narcissistic and vindictive individual who will take all opportunities to better his life at others expenses. Rationally, and based on precedence, if JP were to help Brian yet again, he would only use it to further hurt the family. And each time he gets put into his place, he escalates the scope of his "revenge". Would you really risk putting the gun in the hands of such a person simply to prove that you are the better person?

Lets face it, you can only attempt to help someone so often before you just become a facilitator for their poor choices. Brian won't change just because of the free money and JP's feelings of family at any cost. He has to want to change for the better, and he isn't going to do that as long as someone else is just going to hand him money.

excellent points " you can only attempt to help someone so often before you just become a facilitator for their poor choices" is particularly valid in this instance.

I suppose the ultimate question is how do you force a person to "know thyself"..... not possible, I fear

OMG!!! All the hetero sex in Chapter 42....

I loved the three way with Brad, Robbie, and Jeanine; it was unbelievable hot... It was so good to see the three of them not just connect on a physical level but on an emotional one as well. I am sure the three way between Matt, Wade, and Tiffinay was just as hot but.... Matt or Wade as a dad, hmmmm..... I think I can see Wade as a dad easier than I can see Matt but you know that both would do everything for a child of theirs...

I am so glad that JP and Stef made up, they truly do belong together.... I think Brad should have felt a little guilty about what happened between he and JP, but glad they moved past it as well.

I wonder what Brian and the Carmichaels thought when JP's letter to Brian arrived at their doorstep???

Robbie didn't use a condom, which means 2 Hayes kids are on the way! Tiffany and Jeanine could have them in the same time period and Matt will have a brother and Robbie will be a grandfather! O.o

Shadow? lol Darius has some...interesting taste in females!

Nice 3 way with Brad, Robbie and Jeanine, though I have to disagree and say the one with Matt, Wade and Tiffany would be even hotter, especially if Tiffany is cutting loose! XD

OMG!!! All the hetero sex in Chapter 42....

I am sure the hetero sex stuff has some bearing in this and future stories but to be honest I just skipped thru that part. I'm sure more kids are on the way but still. For me personally this was not one of the better chapters. It seemed like too much left unsaid with all the drama between JP and Brad, Stef from the past chapters and too much into the hetero theme, especially at Christmas.

I have re-read all the stories twice and really enjoy them, much better than any other Gay Authors I have read. The mix of history, gay relationships, their sex lives, strong family bonds, and then the business aspects thrown in just makes for great reading. This story, like all the others, keeps having so many twist and turns it is hard waiting for the next chapter.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :P

I'm kinda with Brad; how did JP know where to send to Brian? Or did he just send it to Auntie Alex? Would be interesting to see if will gets a brother and a stepbrother/nephew about the same time. Phew, there's that family tree, getting all convoluted like again.

Okay, after this chapter, I am now positive that either Matt or Wade must be the narrator for the next one, and that the story should pick up around October/November 2000. It would be way too interesting to see what happens to Matt and Wade as they try to deal with impending parenthood. Plus Mark can get in all the election drama.

Although they won't really be parents since Tiffany and Jeanine are raising them. I'm assuming that Tiffany will be a willing surrogate in 10 years or so when Matt/Wade want to start a family.

I'm hoping it's Wade's baby. Because you know, and I know, that Wade's crazy bitch of a mother isn't just going to stand off to the side and let Jeanine and Tiffany's families have all the fun.

Finally, for all the people who said they'd be willing to follow a straight narrator, it's kinda funny the reaction we've gotten. LOL.

Robbie didn't use a condom, which means 2 Hayes kids are on the way! Tiffany and Jeanine could have them in the same time period and Matt will have a brother and Robbie will be a grandfather! O.o

Is that possible? I mean, Robbie is so incredibly old. Jeanine's likely menopausal. Can they even concieve kids anymore?

Shadow? lol Darius has some...interesting taste in females!

I think her name could of been Moonbeam Cobblepot and Darius would of had sex with her as long as two requirements were met:

1) She's a girl

2) She said yes without the influence of drugs/alcohol.

So if Matt is the Dad, would that make his kid both his son/daughter and his brother/sister?:wacko:

I am not going to try to figure out what Matt is going to be if he got involved in a 4-some with Tiffany and Jeanine and got Jeanine pregnant...

Of course, that is assuming Matt or Wade is going to be involved with raising the child...

Ummm, I don't think women in their late 30's or early 40's are menopausal, at least not usually. Normally that happens in the late 40's and early 50's. Some women have babies in their 60's.

Tiger, that was a joke about Robbie's mid-life crisis aging issues. Robbie is still only 36. I don't think Jeanine has even hit her late 30's yet- I'm pretty sure she was 20 or 21 when she gave birth to Will. I think she's about Max's age- 34- right now. No one in the Be Rad generation has even hit 40 yet- Brad's the oldest, and he's only 37. I wouldn't call 37 young- but it's not really old, either. It's early middle age. I think a person's last years of youth are about 31-33...so they're not even that far out of being young. I'd still call them youthful.

I remember my initial reaction to this was that I was absolutely livid because Matt and Wade didn't put any kind of thought into what they were doing. But I calmed down when I realized that Matt just thought he was doing a great favor for a woman he's always had a bit of a crush on, and at the same time he gets his rocks off as well.

Still, I don't know- I still feel like it's too early in the story to start on Generation 5. But whatever. It's not like Matt's going to give up college or something to try and raise a baby with Tiffany. THAT would have pissed me off. He might help out with the kid some, but

Matt is in no way ready to be an actual parent, and I don't think Tiffany or Jeanine are expecting that from him.

As for Robbie getting Jeanine pregnant...lol. Nah, I don't think Brad and Robbie are interested in chasing after babies again. They're heading towards an empty nest, and I think that works out fine for them. When JJ and Will graduate in '05, I think Brad and Robbie will retire early and sail around the world in a yacht.

Christimas time is time for families to "come" together, so to speak. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I think it would be really funny if Tiffany didn't get pregnant but Jeanine did.....

I also really would have liked to have heard the apology from JP to Steph, maybe we'll hear more about how that went in the next chapter.

I totally loved that chapter!!

The only way that chapter could have been better was if there had been a few paragraphs starting with the words, "Meanwhile, over in Tiffany's room....) 0:)

Let's remember that Tiffany asked Matt to be the father. If Wade did partake in the offered vagina, I'm sure he wore a condom. Being a gracious man, he wouldn't want to cut Matt's grass, so to speak. B)

The scene with JP kneeling in front of Stefan was just perfect. :2thumbs:

Wade is also a 19-year old guy who got into this spur-of-the-moment idea. I'm not sure he really thought to wear a condom. I think it'd be hilarious if Wade turned out to be the father. I get the feeling he'd have a harder time letting go of the child. And then there's his crazy mother, who didn't think she'd get grandchildren from this one...I can see it being pretty dramatic.

I am guessing that Twins are in the offing. one from Matt and the second from Wade. As for Jeanine I think another Christmas present will be delivered about 9 months late. Thank you Mark again, when things seem broken and going to hell, Christmas comes and heals the hurt and pain and all is made new. I have a feeling that Christmas day maybe even better.I wonder how it was in the Carmichael household?

Thanks! I'm with Jeremy though. I'm not seeing Wade with a rubber on. He's disciplined, but not that disciplined.

Indeed the three way was HOT!:2thumbs: I think that it was amplified because of the history, love, and caring that the three shared. For me that puts this ahead of the kids' three way. Not that I would have objected to reading about that one from a voyeuristic point of view. Great job as always, Mark.:worship:

It should also be noted that the kids would not necessarily be from Hayes genes. Brad and Wade could be the fathers as well.
