I'm so glad you guys liked the story! Thanks for the positive comments.

 

In my Yahoo Group, it was mentioned that Brad showed amazing restraint in not mentioning Neil's death to Robbie. By the same token, Robbie, having been there, did what he could to minimize Brad's guilt. I think that based on the way those two guys think, this will actually add more balance to their relationship. For Robbie, he doesn't have to feel like he's some murdering monster married to a saint. For Brad, he can ameliorate his guilt by remembering that Robbie did virtually the same thing. If you think about it, Robbie has always had Brad on a pedestal. With his insecurities, I'm not sure that he'll ever knock Brad off that pedestal, but it just got a whole lot shorter.

In all honestly, the kinky sex made a great gimmick, but it's the characters and the relationships as they deal with the unfolding of American history that keeps me coming back.

 

To be honest I skipped through most of the sex scenes, that isn't what made the story great, they would be called 'gratuitous' in Hollywood. I know Mark doesn't use them that way, he really enjoys writing them and sees them as integral to the story.

Tim, this is the Academy Awards where American Beauty won Best Picture and Kevin Spacey won best Actor. Since Robbie turned down funding American Beauty in favor of movies that flopped, it's not a fun deal for him.

 

The kids have gotten to that age where they start hiding stuff from their parents. I like how Brad and Claire are perplexed by their teenaged children, as parents should be. It's just kinda cool- they were the kids at one point, and now they're the parents of the teenagers. It's like seeing Winona Ryder playing Spock's mother.

 

Yeah, I was off by a year, but that's okay, I hated, hated, hated American Beauty as a story while loving the acting done by Annette and Kevin Spacey.

Great way to end this story. Thanks Mark for a great story that was a real roller coaster ride, with a dark tunnel there near the end, that left me breathless as most roller coasters do. Even closed my eyes a few times like during the graphic hetero sex scene and almost barfed with the graphic "twitching dying" corpse sex scene. Yep just like a roller coaster for me, lol. I enjoyed Brad as narrator for Millenium but sadly he changed from my favorite CAP charcater in the beginning into someone so dark I now find him hard to like. Hopefully as you continue the CAP series he will lose some of that darkness and regain parts of his soul that he seems to me to have lost. You did leave me wondering what was Cody's reaction to Brian's death?

 

Now I am left with the quandary to find another story to read or to re-read the CAP series again. I've haven't bought a hard cover book for several months due to reading your stories. Your stories even had me googling history facts and pictures of mentioned cars. Again thanks for sharing and for the mental adventure.

That's a great question and a great answer. They don't really look a like, they just share some similar features and characteristics, enough to spark Brad's suspicions. Plus I'll bet that being in that family, you learn to look for stuff like that. It's key as to how they don't look all that much alike that no one else, including Jim, picked up on it.
