Matthew k Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Do you mean at a theater or to rent (is Netflix in the Netherlands?) I would go through the AFI (American Film Institute) 100 Years of Film list or maybe their 10 Top 10 list. Or you could watch a bunch of movies in one movie, That's Entertainment! 50 years of MGM's best movies.

Former Member Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 What kind of? Anything, except horror. Do you mean at a theater or to rent (is Netflix in the Netherlands?) I would go through the AFI (American Film Institute) 100 Years of Film list or maybe their 10 Top 10 list. Or you could watch a bunch of movies in one movie, That's Entertainment! 50 years of MGM's best movies. No, not specifically. I just mean any good movies that you watched and that you would recommend. And thanks for the links. I'll definitely take a look.
Kev de Cauchery Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 If you're looking for gay theme/related specifically, (I'm only lsing the ones that I like, so I guess some may seem cliche-ish, e.g. Brokeback Mountain. The red ones are the ones I gave a rating 10) (And I'm only listing featured film, so no short films.) A Love to Hide / Un amour
Kev de Cauchery Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (cont'd) (Something's wrong with my post? Because if I add this post to the last, the system told me, "You must enter a post.") (If the mods can help me with combining the two post together, I'd appreciate it.) In the meantime, here's the rest of the list The History Boys The Love of Siam / รักแห่งสยาม Trick Walk on Water Wedding Wars Were the World Mine Yossi & Jagger Ah, there's not as much as I've expected. These are the ones rated 9 or 10 for me.
TrevorTime Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) L.I.E. is an amazing movie. Not sure if it's readily available now. But Howie Blitzer had some great hair in that one. For current movies, I would go with 17 Again (hottie Zac Efron), Star Trek, and Eagle Eye (Shia is somewhat hot). Edited November 1, 2010 by TrevorTime
anonymous dreamer Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Moulin Rouge!~ it was previously mentioned, but I still have to suggest this movie. It's one of my favorites. There's a lot of glitter and extravagant musicals if you're into that, but it's one of the best love stories I've seen. Big Fish~ a really sweet and interesting movie about father and son relationships. It's also a Tim Burton movie if you like him Donnie Darko~ a crazy thriller/scifi/mystery/suspense/indescribable movie! Best mindf**k movies ever! The Orphanage (El Orfanato)~ It's this Spanish horror movie about a mother's love. I know you said you don't like horror movies, but it's more like a really good drama with some scary elements. It's better than a regular horror movie, because there's an actual storyline to it. It's honestly one of the saddest movies I've seen. American Beauty~ Absolutely hands down my favorite movie. Of. All. Time. Everything about this movie is so clever and poignant, and it has one of the deepest messages of any movie I know.
paustin Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I personally like Latter Days and The Trick.. hm.. maybe Eastside Story. it's good too!
Tomas Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Yes to all of the above. Well, there are some that I haven't seen, but most of them. Just finished watching "Charlie St. Cloud" I'd add it to the growing list. Take Care Tomas
PrivateTim Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I like the AFI lists, they take you through all the classics. Moulin Rouge gave me a headache with the movie never being on one scene longer than 3 seconds. No wonder youth have ADD. Chicago on the other hand was brilliant. Love musicals, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Paint Your Wagon, Funny Girl, Oklahoma, Show Boat, South Pacific, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and the King and I. There are also the classic Westerns, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Stagecoach, High Noon, Big Country, Shane, How the West Was Won and Fort Apache. Or pick an actor and go through his work. My two faves are Cary Grant and Peter O'Toole, both could do any genre; drama, comedy, sports, western it didn't matter. Cary Grant's best are Bringing up Baby, His Girl Friday, Operation Petticoat, Walk, Don't Run, Father Goose, Arsenic and Old Lace, Houseboat, That Touch of Mink, North by Northwest.... gawd I could go on forever on his movies. Peter O'Toole has Lawrence of Arabia, The Stuntman, My Favorite Year, Zulu Dawn, Murphy's War, Lion In Winter, Beckett, How to Steal a Million, The Ruling Class, Goodbye Mr. Chips..... and many more. Love John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Katherine and Audrey Hepburn...... Damn I love movies......
DragonMando Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Just watched The Birdcage tonight and it was really good. I definitely recommend it.
Former Member Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 Just thought I'd throw something in myself: I movie I can honestly recommend is Memoires of a Geisha. It's one of my favorites. Another one that I like is Blood & Flowers.
nicoisobel Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I personally like Latter Days and The Trick.. hm.. maybe Eastside Story. it's good too! I loved Latter Days ! One of the best gay-themed movies I've seen so far ! Good choice !
AntonEckhoff Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 L.I.E. is an amazing movie. Not sure if it's readily available now. But Howie Blitzer had some great hair in that one. For current movies, I would go with 17 Again (hottie Zac Efron), Star Trek, and Eagle Eye (Shia is somewhat hot). I love L.I.E as well and was going to post it. I am really surprised to see someone else beat me to it. I really enjoy coming of age films and I think this is the best one. You have excellent taste, mate!
Prince Duchess Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Good movies to watch Teeth Zerophilia Inception The Tourist Shrek 4ever After The Client List RED The Vampire's Assitant theres probably more but they havent come to me yet
Will Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 "The Kids Are All Right" (2010) Was a great movie with a GLBT theme. Its about a lesbian couple who are rasing their children. "Les chansons d'amour" AKA Love Songs (2007) A GLBT themed movie. Its in frence so you'll most likely have to read the subtitles. It offers a refreshing look at love and desire and does it in a way to don't see very often. "The Bubble" This is another amazing GLBT themed movie. Its in another language so subtitles again yay! Its a very touching love story. I wouldn't want to give anything away. "Juste une Question D'amour" (Just a Question of love) Another story of love that will leave you wanting more. I really encourage everyone to check out these out.
Kavrik Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Checkout this short movie. I thought it was really cool and good for General Audiences. I like checking out Indie Films...anyone else share this?
