MikeL Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 It was 235 years ago today that the elected representatives of the thirteen British colonies in what is now the United States of America declared the colonies' independence from the British crown and the unrelenting taxation and repression of the British parliament. Happy Birthday, America! It is a tribute to both nations, that, for most of those years, they have been friends and allies in protecting democracy from the inroads of dictators and totalitarian systems of government. The fourth of July is a date that all freedom-loving people can celebrate.
ranchered Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 And without the Greeks inventing Democracy in the first place, America would not have that form of government. "Έχουν ένα ευτυχισμένο 4η Αμερικανοί και ένα πολύ καλό απόγευμα." [Have a Happy 4th Americans, and a good evening.]
