I like With Trust.

Chapter Story is...really bad. Writing of your calibre shouldn't be misled by such a title.

The Painting Boy reminds me of gay porn. Or maybe I just don't like titles with 'The' in it...Or maybe I watch too much gay porn...

Crash is okay.

I think With Trust stands out more, can't wait for a new story.... just as long as i am done reading DD.

Cuz if u give me 2 stories I'll be acting all.... ummm.... yea

Cant wait!

You should name it something meaningful. I've noticed that the chapter titles in DD are really deep and meaningful, while Desert Dropping sounds kinda like you didn't feel like thinking about how to name your story. That's my opinion.

It's by you so any of us would click on it. But honestly, I'd skip right over those if I saw them on nifty.

:lmao: Then I hope you weren't one of the people who clicked on "The Log Way" when it was on Nifty. :P I like these titles. I liked

I was just thinking the other day how your chapter titles are clever while your story titles tend to be... odd. I do remember, however, that the reason that I read TLW on nifty when I first started reading it was because of the odd name. I wanted to figure out what a log way was...

I voted for 'With Trust' as that is the kind of title I like; short, sweet, and to the point but it also has some feeling behind it and (most likely) conveys what kind of story it will be (i.e. not quick dirty hardcore sex).

Personally I like a title that reflects the point (moral) of the story. Especially if it doesnt make sense until a long way in. It should also be unusual and convey some sense of the story's theme (sad, comedic, satirical, etc). I loved TOU and I thought it reflected the story perfectly but the title was a bit cliche which is why I overlooked it at first. Of those you mentioned...I dont really like any of them but then I've got no idea what the story is about.

In all honesty I overlooked all three of your serials in nifty because the titles didnt seem unique. I read TLW after I found you in hosted authors and I read the other two because I trusted you to make them worth reading (you did by the way).

I loved the title "The Ordinary Us", and it is what got my attention at Nifty and ultimately brought me here. I thought it was very clever. Though personally I've never particularly wanted to be "ordinary" or "normal" per se. I've always preferred "odd", "unusual" or even "weird". LOL if I'd been in the story Jude would have had to say "Kevin, remember, you're odd". But I loved the title, and assumed it was ironic or satiric.

"The Long Way" I also love. "The Log Way" not so much. It ended up being my favorite story, but I was hesitant at first to start it because it brought up connotations of lumberjacking, in fact for some reason I was convinced that Owen "moves in with his twin, lumberjack, brothers". I was just imagining them all wearing flannel and operating one of those two person saws. I was really quite relieved when I'd read the first few chapters and realized that unless something odd happened their wouldn't be any "logging" in the story at all.

"Desert Dropping" is fun, though I admit I always do think "droppings", and then I just picture this big desert bird flying overhead and.....well you get the idea.

Anyway "with trust" definitely sounds like something I'd want to read. I love stories and themes about trust. In fact if someone wants to get me to read or watch something a good way is to put "trust" in the title. Oh it's just reminded me of my favorite quote from an obscure 70s/80s sci-fi show. "A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken"......I think I'll go post that over in the quotes thread on the main forum. Uh anyway, I love titles with trust in them and you should pick that IMO. I like "the painting boy" ok, and would be intrigued by such a title. Personally I don't like "crash" at all. I generally dislike one word titles.

Anyway have an awesome day and whatever you choose rest assured I'll read it! Take care

Damn it.. i accidentaly clicked on chapter story when i voted. I'm a klutz.

Anyway, out of all of those, "With Trust" is probably the best bet. "Crash" is ok.. though it's already the title of one of my fave movies and also.. it might be better as a title for one of the chapters.. like you said.. thatt's what we feel when we read chapter 1.. so it's probably a good idea to use "Crash" for chapter 1.

I don't really know if even "With Trust" will stand out ... Desert Dropping caught my attention at nifty thoguh. that's why i started reading lol... and i promise.. nothing dirty came into my mind when i saw the title.. though when my straight friend asked me what i was reading.. and i told him the title.. he was like.. "ewww.. haha.. gay porn." I have nooooo idea.

You could always name it "A Boy and the Canvas" 0:)

I dunno -- why not bobble the title on purpose for this one? Besides continuing a proud tradition, it does add a certain amount of interest. There's the "That's not quite right" reflex that catches the eye.

Besides, I'm not sure you have to worry much about finding an audience. Hiding from that audience maybe, but that's an entirely different thing.

Seriously....If the tit(t)le was 'A boring story written on the bottom of Dixie Cups' by Domluka, I'd read it. :2thumbs:

Yeah, I kind of thought that for a while too. But then I realized; out of all the stories on this huge list (on nifty) I clicked the one with the odd title. So I guess it worked. Hmmm....

Maybe he should have named it 'With Tryst' ?:blink:

If I saw that tit(t)le, I'd say WTF and have a looksie...

Vic

P.S. - And if WT was named With Tryst, we'd have some new material .... With Try(u)st :2thumbs:

tryst

n.

1. An agreement, as between lovers, to meet at a certain time and place.

2. A meeting or meeting place that has been agreed on.

So tryst has to do with lovers, and would be a somewhat appropriate title, after all. ^_^
