For a while now I have been composing a response to The Secret Life of Billy Chase.

The response is Brandon's Blog, an online diary he keeps that is where he puts his thoughts, his experiences, his dreams, his poetry...and his heartaches.

Brandon signed his first entry with 'Brandon...Smiling'

and so this story is named.

Thanks to the support of Atruefan who has been reading my response and who has given me positive feedback he was kind enough to sponsor me before Comsie The Great. His Alluring Majesty read my first chapter and gave his blessing for its release. Alas, though I wish he had the time, I don't think Comsie can always Beta Read this work though I would dearly love it if he could. I love his story so much that I want to remain faithful to it in Brandon's perspective.

In that spirit I was wondering if any of you, his true fans and particularly of the Billy Chase Chronicle would like to Beta Read Brandon Smiling for me so that I stay the course.

Brandon became a special character for me because the way Comsie wrote him greatly reminded me of myself at 14-15. This uncanny connection compelled me to start writing again after several years of lying fallow. This is a work from my heart and has aspects of my own experience being gay growing up.

I greatly admire Comsie for his adept insight into such a character as mine as my experience was a fairly common one and one that many can connect with. This is how Comsie writes his characters. They are reflections of us and possibly as we could have been or would have meant to be.

Anyway, I hope you guys might help out if you want. I would sure appreciate it.

I really can't believe I found this needle in a haystack. Whoever he is...he is just as adorable as I thought he'd be. He is already a heartbreaker. I wonder what he'll grow up to look like?

He probably isn't what Comsie had in mind for Brandon, but if anyone fits the description of 'Prettiest Boy In School' its this guy. Makes me wish I was 15 again. ~sigh~

He's ADORABLE! Hehehe! And actually, he comes pretty close. If you see the "Billy Chase" trailer that I made for the Comicality YouTube channel, I have a few shots of Brandon that look pretty similar! (I used an older, dark haired, Randy Shelly for the vid) So kudos on finding a great match!

No...I don't think I have an illigitimate son out there, but Randy might be a relative of some kind. hehehehe! I wonder what his mother's maiden name was?

I'd still love to know what movies you clipped for that wonderful trailer. It was brilliantly done. I've watched over and over and included a cover of 'Iris' into the Brandon Smiling Soundtrack.

Ah, the movie clips? Let me see...

I really LOVED the idea of actor, Miles Heizer, playing the role of "Billy"! So a bunch of those clips came from "Rails And Ties"! (Which is an awesome movie, by the way!) However, I played a trick on you guys! Hehehe! In certain parts of the video, where you couldn't see 'Billy's' face...I had to use Dakota Goyo (same haircut) from the movie "Dark Skies". So those are the major influences. The song choice had special meaning to me in the 90's, and it fit the series perfectly, tone and lyrics and all. And I threw in a few other movies as well along the way. I hope this helps. And THANKS! This video has over 10,000 views now! It more than triples the views of anything else I've put out! It must touch a nerve with people...

Your careful clip selection and the very appropriate song 'Iris' from Goo Goo Dolls just fits for the story. Even finding a 'Jimmy' with wrist scars and integrating it into the video was jaw dropping. A lot of us really thought you'd started making a movie!

I found this tender rendition of 'Iris' by a young band out of suburban LA called Future. Sunsets that I consider 'Brandonized' because it is a bit gentler and mellower. This is how I feel Brandon's general sweet disposition is. Quiet pain. It speaks to the same issues Billy has but through Brandon's lens.

Yes, I really thought this hard about your creation, Comsie. You have no idea in what ways your stories have helped me through this past year or so. I'll stop gushing now. Its been very cathartic to read and participate in the stories of teens very much like I was once. Maybe we all were in one way or another. Hence your mass appeal.
