When a dinner guest approached him and told him she had bet someone she could get him to say more than two words, he replied, "You lose." Repartee, our word for such a quick, sharp reply (and for skill with such replies) comes from the French repartie, of the same meaning. Repartie itself is formed from the French verb repartir, meaning "to retort."

 

Good one.  My first thought, and repartee for the day, is that a return to Calvin Coolidge would be refreshing.

DiC houses all the colors of the rainbow! I'm kinda vanilla and boring but have plenty of friends in different communities. Just because someone does things differently, doesn't mean they're wrong. It's refreshing to read your comments, we have some uppity, judgemental, jerks on GA and it's great to see someone accept someone else's choices.
