I had planned on getting up early to go grocery shopping, but didn't sleep well last night so hit snooze repeatedly instead of getting out of bed. So I'll go tomorrow instead. I don't have much choice, since there's not a lot left in the fridge. I managed to get a little bit of writing done. And took a shower A good friend of mine called shortly before lunch to see if I wanted to meet her at a local nature preserve and go for a walk, so I did. It was a lovely, but cool, day. Perfect for walking. Things are starting to bud and bloom here, and the preserve has several ponds and swampland in it. We saw some geese, who decided swam right up to the shore near us. And we also saw some turtles sunning themselves on logs. It felt wonderful to get out of the house. We wore masks and socially distanced from the few other people we saw out. So overall, I feel much less anxious. I really hope I'll get some good sleep tonight. It is amazing what a bit of time in nature can do for the soul 3 4

Popular Post Bucket1 Posted May 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 8, 2020 And Albert, you will be pleased to hear that I was careful at work yesterday. Not that there were many people there, 4 in total and 3 of them were in a different area. Lots of discussion about hand hygiene stations and room capacity. Oh I miss the network, the speed, the reliability, it just works. I could download some podcasts while waiting for my file to upload and it just worked... yes I am a man of simple pleasures 1 5

Popular Post Caz Pedroso Posted May 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 8, 2020 Hi All. I just got a reply from Emi via email. Quote Hello Caz I am sorry I have been absent for a long time. But it was not my intention. Things happened, and I somewhat caught busy with them. Thanks for checking on me. I am fine and safe. Hope and pray you are too... Love, Emi. I know people were worried and wanted to let you know. 1 7

Around 15°C (59°F) here, but it actually feels a good bit warmer. So much so that I'm taking a lot more rests whilst gardening than usual. It feels sort of muggy, which may explain why it feels warmer than it really is. Even the house martins were only flying at head height around the middle of the day, although they're back up above the roofs now. Next five days are promised reasonably dry, which just the possibility of an occasional shower, although the temperature may drop a degree or two. If this keeps up, we'll have the farmers complaining about a drought (but they love to complain, anyway). 6

Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted May 8, 2020 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted May 8, 2020 I think time stopped in March, when we all went on lockdown It's snowing out, although it won't accumulate more than a dusting. I went grocery shopping this morning and stocked up on everything. The store was well-stocked. The meat department was full. People are limited to two per item, but they've been doing that for over a month now. The only thing I wasn't able to get was a family pack of ground beef, but they did have smaller packs. The only things they were out of were the typical... cleaning supplies, soap, and baking materials. They were a bit low on eggs, too, but there was still some left. So now I have a fridge and freezer full again 1 7

All of the usual stuff that was emptied out was fully restocked: soap, Lysol, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, etc. So, apparently the panic buying is tapering off. But the bacon was picked through, and the Jif brand of peanut butter was simply nowhere to be found. 4 2

It's years since I've heard any ELO (or Electric Light Orchestra, as they were known back in the day). I've at least one vinyl album of theirs hidden away somewhere (their second one, I think). Must dig it out sometime and see just how badly scratched it is... 2 4
