Now, as my mammy used to say, don't spend it all at once! Well, unfortunately a lot of it will be spent at once so I can pay off bills that have been waiting. I'll also have a hefty bill from my ER visit. But it's nice to know that I'll actually be able to pay it. 7 1

But it's nice to know that I'll actually be able to pay it. It always saddens me that some countries don't have universal health care like the NHS in the UK. Individuals can choose to pay for private treatment if they wish, but the NHS is there for everyone, regardless of income or employment status. I'll say no more, as I would be crossing into topics that should only be discussed in The Pit. 1 8
Popular Post Marty Posted May 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) Here's my week 6 offering of my challenge to upload a new black and white photograph every week for 52 weeks. It's a picture of the upper garden taken this evening. I did clear all the roots off the path and took a couple of other shots, but the light was failing by that time. Page Scrawler Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Here's some stuff on Netflix for people who like to read: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ariannarebolini/book-adaptations-netflix-quarantine-streaming Some of them I've seen, some I've only heard about, but they all look good. So far, my favorite one is The Letter for the King. 4

I had planned on getting up early to go grocery shopping, but didn't sleep well last night so hit snooze repeatedly instead of getting out of bed. So I'll go tomorrow instead. I don't have much choice, since there's not a lot left in the fridge. I managed to get a little bit of writing done. And took a shower A good friend of mine called shortly before lunch to see if I wanted to meet her at a local nature preserve and go for a walk, so I did. It was a lovely, but cool, day. Perfect for walking. Things are starting to bud and bloom here, and the preserve has several ponds and swampland in it. We saw some geese, who decided swam right up to the shore near us. And we also saw some turtles sunning themselves on logs. It felt wonderful to get out of the house. We wore masks and socially distanced from the few other people we saw out. So overall, I feel much less anxious. I really hope I'll get some good sleep tonight. Since it's nearly a whole day later I hope you had better sleep. 2 4

Cheers, buddy I was talking to the 15 year old brother of the fine young man who I had suggested to his mother that I might kidnap. He (the younger brother) is actually quite keen to help me in the garden once the lockdown is lifted. He'd expect some cash in return, but not too much, and he does gardening for a few other people... Edited May 8, 2020 by Marty Clarification 7

Popular Post Marty Posted May 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 8, 2020 It's Saturday here now, so yesterday was the 75th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) marking the end of WW2 in Europe... My sister, who lives in England, informed me via WhatsApp that the residents of her street were planning a "socially distanced" street party to celebrate VE day. I replied as follows: "Please don't use it as an excuse to celebrate or glorify war (as I'm sure you won't), and be careful how much wine you drink. " Well she does have a tendency to get very loud and boisterous after a few glasses of wine. She then tends to fall asleep in the chair after the third glass or so. So I really hope she's not asleep in the street at this moment, and no-one is prepared to carry her back into her house because of worries about social distancing... 2 5
