Cleaned and brushed Cookie's rear end and tail again today. She actually seemed to be happy I was doing it... well... sort of. I was very careful not to pullout any tail hair (feathers) because her tail is soooo beautiful. No poop episodes today either. I could really use a good uninterrupted night's sleep, though. Maybe tonight. 1 5 1

Maybe after they check and register it they'll say you can keep it as a nice souvenir of all the hard work you've put into this garden and house. 7 hours ago, Headstall said: I think you should. Morning, Marty. Sorry gang... Although I really did think I'd dug up a genuine revolver, when I picked it up I found out it was a toy gun made of moulded plastic. I have to admit though, that caked with who knows how many years of soil, it completely fooled me initially. Edited May 18, 2020 by Marty Flipping typos! 8

Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted May 18, 2020 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted May 18, 2020 I made "Golden soup" tonight for dinner, along with a grilled cheese sandwich on jalapeno cauli rounds. I tweaked the recipe a little bit. I used veggie stock instead of water and used 2 1/2 teaspoons of turmeric vs 1 tablespoon. It was absolutely delicious. I made enough to freeze some and I'll have it for lunch tomorrow too. https://pinchofyum.com/golden-soup 3 3

Popular Post Marty Posted May 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 18, 2020 I just realised I forgot to bake my bread tonight. So I'm doing an Albert, and making no knead bread. Actually, I've added all the ingredients to the breadmaker machine, and set it to actually bake the bread this time. Usually I put it on the Dough setting, and then give it a second knead before letting it rise again in a bread tin and baking it in the oven. I'll just have to suffer there being a hole in the bottom of the loaf after I remove the paddle this time, but at least I'll have bread ready for my breakfast in the morning. 3 3 1

Although I normally wouldn't add any fruit, nuts, or sugar to a soda bread mix, and certainly not egg or butter. What the recipe in this video seems to be making is a cake, rather than a loaf of bread. I wonder if the narrator has ever eaten real Irish soda bread. After all, she compares what her recipe would turn out to be like a large scone. That's not what Irish soda bread is. I counted around ten separate ingredients in the video. The recipe in the one I linked to has just four: flour, salt, bread soda (bicarbonate of soda), and buttermilk (or soured milk) - okay, five if you count the two types of flour separately. Buttermilk is readily available in Ireland. It's not sold much in England, so my sister normally adds a tablespoon of lemon juice to fresh milk instead (to replace the natural acidity in buttermilk, which is needed to release the carbon dioxide from the bicarbonate of soda, and so make the bread rise in the oven).
