For some reason, the first part of your reply reminded me of the following Scottish saying:

I've heard it used as a toast, instead of simply "Cheers!"

The morning here has been reasonably warm and sunny. But Met Éireann (the Irish Weather Service) have issued a Status Orange warning that my county (and others) could experience intense thundery downpours today, in excess of 50mm (2 inches), which may lead to surface flooding.  

Currently 13:36 hours, and no sign of rain yet....

It's cool and dry here.  Nice and sunny too.  I have a structural engineer and my contractor coming today to draw up plans for the basement repairs.  Tomorrow I have another contractor coming to give me an estimate for new gutters.  So hopefully soon I will have a structurally sound house with a dry basement and working gutters.  My checking account is very much not happy about the situation, but there's not much I can do on that front.
