Yeah, my cottage pie doesn't use peas. I sub in corn. Corn is more adbundant in my area.

My mom made corn chowder... she had to watch her pennies for a long time and we had lots of corn growing across the street at my aunt and uncles. It was amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have her recipe.

I have an amazing corn chowder recipe.  It's too carby for me now, with the diabetes, unfortunately

My son's bearded dragon passed away... he was about 14... he hasn't been eating much and I had to give him warm baths to help him poop. Now I have to tell my son... and go bury him.

Same here, Gary. At least the watching the pennies part.

My siblings and myself will often reminisce about some of mum's recipes, particularly the ones where she was using ingredients that were cheap for whatever reason (maybe a glut, or just a special offer), or using up food that was getting ready to spoil (her bread and butter pudding to use up stale bread was to die for), or leftovers (chicken broth, bubble & squeak, and potato cakes from yesterday's uneaten boiled spuds, come to mind).

We sometimes kick ourselves that we never got the recipes for some of the dishes from her. I have tried making bread and butter pudding - I've even tried store purchased varieties. But, as Sinead O'Connor famously sang: Nothing Compares.

I make one using shrimp and scallops and dried corn.

I missed congratulating you on the welcome news. See it pays to study before taking tests. Oh, wait, just ignore the last bit. It's what I used to tell my son when he was still in school. Uhm, now that I think about it he's still in school. Second time 'round for another college degree.

I also saute mushrooms and onion and mix that in with the beef.
