Popular Post Marty Posted January 14, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 14, 2021 2 hours ago, Valkyrie said: I know everyone's been wondering, so here's what's been going on. For a little over a week and a half I've had painful swelling on the left side of my face, which spread to underneath my tongue and jaw, making it very painful to eat or sleep. I went to urgent care, where they diagnosed an inflamed salivary gland and prescribed antibiotics and instructed me to see an ENT if it didn't get better or got worse. Well, it got worse so I tried getting an appointment, but had no luck. So I called my doc and they prescribed steroids to knock out the inflammation. I had a dentist appointment next week, but I called yesterday to move it up because I had so much pain in my mouth, and they were able to see me last night. Turns out I have a raging infection in my lower front gums, which is causing all the facial swelling and pain. I have advanced periodontal disease in just that area, thankfully the rest of my gums are fine. So I'm on more antibiotics and will go back tomorrow for a reassessment, then on Monday for a procedure to clean the lower teeth and gums to see how far the infection has spread. They don't think it's spread to my jaw, but won't know for sure until they get in there. On Tuesday, I got the results of my sleep study and they were not good. I have moderate-severe sleep apnea, so need to get a CPAP machine. I'm just waiting on a call from the vendor. That news was upsetting enough, but it's been put on the back burner because of my mouth issues. During all this I had to deal with unemployment issues (hopefully now sorted), the plumbing issue (sorted), and the news that my dad is in the hospital with heart issues. I'm estranged from my father, but don't wish him ill will. So everything has decided to happen at once and I've had enough, thank you. At this point, I just want to be pain-free and be able to eat normally again. Thankfully the steroids have knocked out the worst of the pain, and once I get through Monday, I should be on the path to healing. Thank you all for being here through everything. It's nice to be able to come here and take my mind off things. Jeez, Val! That's a lot to go through. Here's hoping everything turns out okay. I'm sending healing thoughts your way. 2 6

Sherye Story Reader Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Ok. I want to rant! Who is the person who turned off the heat and turned on the wind outside? That is so not cool! No pun intended! 3

Yeah me too though I don't think he's at risk for complications. He used to have asthma and often had bronchitis as a kid but now despite being overweight he's in good health. Sherye Story Reader Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 I just suggested to my step daughter in law that she may have to invest in a leash for her Siamese kitten and put it on her so when they open their door to their camper that she does not run outside every time. And tp put that leash on her to take her for walks outside to get her use to being on a leash. It is a pure Siamese kitten. It was found abandoned with other Siamese kittens and she was the only one that survived. The pure Siamese can not see very well at night like other cats, so they are more of a house cat than a outside cat. 4

Popular Post Marty Posted January 14, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 14, 2021 (edited) So this evening I didn't come in from the garden until about 5:15pm. I will admit that it was almost completely dark by that time but, just to allay any concerns Albert might have on reading that, I had spent most of the last three-quarter hour or so actually on the ground, and not up the ladder. I think I mentioned when I started clearing all this growth over the two old stone sheds, that I am having to work very slowly because of the way the Russian vine stems - some of which seem to be maybe 15 feet (5 metres) or more long - have twisted around each other, and around the ivy, briars and brambles that are also in the mix. And, although they may look very thin, they are extremely strong. The fact that most of this growth is well above my head means that I can't just attack it with a bill hook (hedge knife), but am having to cut it piece by piece with either the clippers or the secateurs (pruners) (and occasionally the bow saw). Just to give you an idea of what I mean, here's a photo I took today showing the way the Russian vine shoots twist themselves. And, by way of a visual progress report, here's a photo I took just before I finished this evening showing what growth still needs to be cleared away (this one was taken from the other side of the two sheds than the one I shared the other day - actually from the top of the steps leading to the upper garden): Edited January 14, 2021 by Marty Tidying up 1 6 1
Sherye Story Reader Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 I think I just learned my lesson on keeping my mouth shut where my family is concerned. All I wanted to know was why my stepson always said to me was his wife when he was referring to his wife, Lisa. He never said Lisa to me. I also ordered something for her and it came in today and I handed it to him to give it to her since he was in here when the box came in. He went to her and they got into a fight over something that was said and he is screaming out there right this moment. I tried to calm him down but he still would not calm down. So I just came in here and let him rant and rave. Hopefully our neighbors don't called the sheriff department cause of the screaming. Also she never said thank you to me about what I gave her. I can not e nice to anyone. I give up! 😭 3

Meanwhile maybe boost your Vitamin D and get some zinc lozenges to aid your immunity, might help avoid contracting either flu or covid. Edited January 14, 2021 by dughlas 5

Maybe you could Val to lend you that flamethrower Albert gave her the other day. Uhm, just a suggestion but maybe skip the sexy outfit that came with it. 6
