It's the same in Denmark, but unfortunately that's not always enough to catch unsafe elderly drivers. Not that they are common, but it's scary to meet them. Many years ago, just after I got my driver's licence, I encountered an old lady who committed three gross traffic violations within a short time. First she drove out in front of me in a roundabout (didn't even look to check if someone was coming), then she ran a red light, probably because the traffic signal was new and she had gone past that crossing for fifty years with right of way. It sure was a big surprise for the guy driving out from the side road. Finally, at the next traffic light she turned the corner right in front of a pedestrian, who was on a zebra crossing with a green walk signal. He had to jump back to avoid being hit. After that I lost sight of her, but I still feel bad about not reporting her to the police. But at the time I thought they wouldn't listen to a driver who had gotten their licence one month earlier. Not that they are common, but it's scary to meet them. Unfortunately it's not the case in France. When I had my car accident, the old lady (over 80yo!) who drove into me be not stopping at a stop sign said "oh I'm sorry but usually there's no one at this time and day" and from the state of her car I wasn't the first to literally cross path with her... Many old people have trouble with roundabouts. Not long ago a grandpa stopped in the middle of one to let me, "good thing" it was a small one on our little town. I was shocked, moving my arms around trying to let him know it was dangerous and to move on he seemed to humph when I didn't accept "his offer" At least a sight check should be mandatory. Before he started to lose his mind my grandpa was still driving... his sight was probably at 50%. The car knew the way, he'd say... Edited February 12, 2021 by clochette 1 6 1

Similar, although maybe just a wee bit warmer than you're experiencing. Just in from the garden, where it was 2°C/36°F, although it felt more like -7°C/19°F at times in the stiff breeze. The Irish Met Office reckon that it will become noticeably warmer over the weekend, with daytime temperatures possibly getting as high as 13°C/55°F. The downside to that is that there's likely to be a good bit of rain. It's actually been quite pleasant working outside this week - once I had wrapped myself up well. The official Driving Licence Medical Report Form that my doctor had to fill in had one section where the doctor had to say whether I need to wear corrective lenses while driving (spectacles, in other words). He also asked me to read the letters on an eye test chart from across the room, to make sure my distance vision was okay. Something similar to the following: 3 5
Albert1434 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I never heard about this wow How Lucille Ball Heard Spies Through Her Dental Fillings. In 1974 Lucille Ball told TV host Dick Cavett that during World War II she picked up radio broadcasts through her dental fillings as she was driving home from the MGM studios through Coldwater Canyon. The phenomena subsided as she continued driving. When it happened again a week later she told MGM security because the signals seemed to be Morse code. She stated that the FBI located the source of the signals, an underground Japanese radio station. 5

We got a call this afternoon from one of the local hospitals and mum has an appt on Tues the 23rd to get her injection. I have to wait because SC does not recognize any health issues as priority. If I was home in PA my kidney disease would qualify me to get the vaccine. Edited February 12, 2021 by dughlas 3 4

That reminds me of when my youngest sister worked as a nanny in Canada for a year, some time back in the late 1970's... I got a letter from her one time that had the following in it: The weather's not too bad today. It's -30 degrees. It was below -40 a couple of days back. Those would have been Fahrenheit temperatures at the time. Although, interestingly, -40F is also -40C. 6
