Cloves?!  I mean, I appreciate the thought, Nicky, but cloves do not belong on a ham. I'm preparing a honey mustard glaze for the ham, actually. 

Also on the menu: potatoes au gratin, broccoli salad, sweet potato hash with pecan topping, cranberry jam, and bread that I baked last night. Naturally, there's pumpkin pie and pecan pie for dessert.

Cloves are welcome in a gingerbread cake, or a chai latte. But poking whole cloves into a ham, just....it ends up tasting like the ham was cooked in cough syrup.

I agree... cloves go great on ham, and they look nice if you score the x (diamond) pattern and center them.
