Drewdo Baggins inspected the recent opened package. Curiosity was bubbling inside him. "A ring?", he asked. "Yes", confirmed Spikearagorn. "But it's too big for me", exclaimed the nervous hobbit while holding the golden artifact. "It's for me, silly", chuckled the human, thinking his companion's innocence was endearing. Drewdo looked at Spikearagorn's fingers. Then at the ring. "Your fingers are big, but not that big", he stated, wondering if his savior was making a joke. If so, he missed it. "Who said it's for a finger?, said Spikearagorn, throwing a wink to the smaller man. Drewdo immediately blushed. "Is it going to hurt?", he asked with trembling knees. "I won't lie. Yes, but only for a moment. It's going to be special.  I promise", reassured Spikearagorn. Drewdo took deep breaths to calm his racing heart. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his man. 

So, he sterilized the needle, pricked the man's earlobe, and placed the earring. Very pleased with his work, he said with a smile "me next".

The End

It’s not good to wake up in the middle of the night and smell smoke… checked the website and the nearest fire is over 60km away (about 40 miles)… back to bed for me

Dear native english speaking friends (sorry Nicky though you can answer too, it'll still be interesting to know the answer for Spanish speaking people), 

Around what age do english speaking kids start to read? Not necessarily full words fluently or even sentences but starting to decode words?

In France kids start to decode syllabes around 5 and to decode words amd then reading fluently words around 6 years old but lately I've been reading the work of Celine Alvarez about a new, more intuitive method and it's blowing my mind! Kids start decoding words around 3!

Now I'm also wondering how Gary, Albert and Terry did to learn to read when books didn't exist yet when they were that age... 🤔

Thank Pagey. That's also what I've noticed when I was an au pair and from vidéos on the internet. 

Now I wonder if it's because the prononciation is easier or if it's a method thing...

Reading simple books with pictures and simple words out loud to the kids, helps with comprehension. They associate the sounds of the words with the pictures, which improves memory.
