Site Administrator Graeme Posted March 8, 2007 Site Administrator Posted March 8, 2007 Hi I want everyones oppinions. I am waiting for approval so that I can gain author status and post My story....I went with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme does everyone think that was a good idea? I've never been into horror and gore movies so I never saw the film in question. I'm therefore unlikely to read a story based on that theme. However, there are people who like that sort of thing so you'll probably still get an audience -- just not as big as if you had picked some other theme. If you are writing because you want to write and you picked that theme because you like it and it inspired you, then it was a good idea. You have to start somewhere and if horror becomes the genre you want to write in, then go for it! If you are writing because you want lots of people to read what you write and praise it, then it probably wasn't a good choice. Your target audience is a lot smaller than if you had picked a different theme. Of course, the problem if you pick a more popular theme is to write something original enough to stand out so people notice it, so that's not necessarily easier. Basically, the theme isn't as important as the story and the writing. That is, having something interesting to write about, and then writing about it in a way that people can read it easily.
Bondwriter Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Same as Graeme. If you put a nice spin on it, your characters are entertaining and your writing vivid and evocative, you'll have readers anyway. As a sub-sub-genre writer, I'll warn you not to expect tons of feedback from this place if you actually are into heavy gore fiction. But you might find people to work with, and there are actually other places where you'll get tons of readers. Plus it's nice to hang out here. And you were actually granted author status if you may post in here. So welcome!
Dio Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hi I want everyones oppinions. I am waiting for approval so that I can gain author status and post My story....I went with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme does everyone think that was a good idea? Graeme appears to have shown me up with logic and complex thought, so I decided to reconsider my position: After thinking about this seriously...no really, I can be serious sometimes, I swear...*ahem*...I have decided that it is an excellent idea! In fact, I have several titular suggestions: The Utah Chainsaw Massacre The Texas Toothpick Stabber The Movie where everyone makes funny big eyes and screams a lot The 'no' before was accidental acid reflux. smootches, db
x Trevor x Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 It's not a fanfiction...it's just simply my version of the texas chainsaw massacre and doesnt carry that title because the story is about more than leather face thats just simply a temporary story plot this is a give away but the main characters do survive and go on to where i move to the more romantic part of the story after they escape though its incredibly short i am considering erasing the ending and making it a bit longer and dio thats funny texas toothpick stabber lmao!
x Trevor x Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 My story is up everyone! It's called I'll come back for You and can be found in the horror section of the efiction.
