    Reroute Rout

This one was short but with the perfect cliffie ending. You are an evil man
  2. LOL. Now I'm imagining what he could possibly have swallowed!
  3. Good angst! I'm so glad Rick's wife stood up to him. I can't abide wallflower yes wives. I'm glad you gave her a backbone. Wade/Ben and Rick Jr. were so cute. I did have question though, what is the point of telling us about Wade's swimming? Will that come into play or was it just filler? It just seemed out of place, a lot of info that wasn't exactly pertinent unless the fact that he swims will be important later. Other than that the chapter had real flow and I love that all the drama ended with a laugh at Charlie's parents.
  4. Honestly? The stupid theme song to that show Married with Children. It's been one of those days today When it comes to music lately it's been Christina Perri, Jar of Hearts. I'm also addicted to most of Sara Barseille's music. I'm a country girl at heart so when I am not listening or singing along to one of those one of Reba's or Garth's songs are usually coming out my mouth.
  5. Flat out, no platitudes, absolutely honest response of that just sucks ass! I hope there is a silver lining somewhere for you.
  6. It is. I've been working on it slowly, just trying to absorb the lessons and improve my writing as I go. I hope you enjoy it! Welcome to GA by the way!
  7. Welcome Scott and Aberneth! It's always great to have new writers on the site. I look forward to finding new stories to read and love so I hope you guys will post. I'm around if you have any questions about the site. Scott, a cologne bottle for a bong? LOL. That is hilarious, even more so because I can't see anyone using it more than once. Cologne fumes even in the mouth are bleck, much less from a water/smoke combo! I look forward to reading your story. Aberneth, I would think being 18 and a physicist would be considerably more rare than being gay and a physicist. We welcome all kinds here. And if your story is a trainwreck you simply do as Andy suggested and get someone (or several someones) to help you get it back on the rails.

    Rupert the Bear

I had a little bit of an unusual childhood. When I was just two my dad got custody of my sister and me and my mom took off with us. She wasn't gone more than a few days but I'm sure it was awful for him. I'm well familiar with the fact a daddy can be strongly attached to his girls from him though. Thanks for reading and reviewing, I'm glad you liked it!

    Rupert the Bear

Her laugh broke the silence. "Daddy, look at me!" I watched my daughter play on the playground and have fun. She was only four and had no idea what the day was. I knew and it was a day that broke my heart. She slid down the slide and came running over to me in her cute little shorts and tank top, her cheeks bright red. "It's hot honey, drink some water." I handed over her purple water bottle and made sure she took several big drinks. Water dripped off her chin when she gave it back.
  10. Can we see how much enough there is before we decide?
  11. Happy Birthday! Big hugs!!!
  12. I like my soda though I'm a pepsi max kinda girl I'll drink any diet generic version if I need to. Unfortunately I'm a chronic migraine/rebound headache sufferer. I'll get a migraine and then get rebound headaches for a week so I have to be very careful of walking that line of enough caffeine in my system to help stave off the pain and not too much to make it worse. I don't drink soda before lunch though so while I will occasionally drink coffee, I just never grew to like it as an adult like I thought I would. Poor teenage delusion that if I added half a cup of sugar and cream and drank it it mean I was 'adult' because only someone with no tastebuds can drink the canned swill I grew up watching my dad drink. I usually drink tea. I have a nice Moroccan Mint that has only 10-15% of the caffeine of the same amount of coffee and I love it strong and plain, no sweetener. It's a great after dinner drink for a little perk without any pep, so to speak I think my Samauri Chai from Teavana is my fav though. It's very 'posh' I've been told to spend that amount of cash on a tea but compared to speciality coffee drinks dropping $6.20 for 2 ounces of mix isn't bad. It has real stuff in it, not that processed crap in a bag. We're talking green mate tea, red rooibos, cinnamon, candied pineapple bits, orange peel, lemongrass, aniseed, coriander, cardamom, almonds and cornflower blossoms. It is the most frangrant spicy burst at first and then you get hit with the sweet from the pineapple and lemongrass. No added sweetener or cream needed. It rocks cold too. Add in the fact that it has the same amout of caffeine as cup of coffee and I can get a total of 15 cups (16 oz) for that 6.20... yeah, not hitting the coffee shops much anymore. Sorry Starbucks, your sucky overpriced burnt tasting drinks are off my menu!
  13. We all have issues and we all need people to turn to. I'm glad you've found that here. It takes time but you'll keep growing and changing and things will turn out. Not always okay but all you have to do is just keep trying. We'll be here to help you if you stumble, you know.
  14. I think that being completely compatible sexually isn't that common anyway. Lots of couples have compromises for things one partner wants that the other might not. Could you imagine the types of games two tops might get up to in order to determine who is going to bottom from time to time?
  15. That's how my 4 year old son wears his hair too, unless he wants it buzzed completely off. It depends on how much he feels like spiking his hair. He's had it almost completely gone to 3 inch spikes when it was done up. I tend to like the fade look on guys with short spikes or waves. Either way good luck. Being a woman and not having cut my hair for 2 years I'm not exactly the advice source you are looking for I think
  16. I think the genre one writes also impacts the length of a story. If you write something completely unfamiliar to the reader like a science fiction or fantasy based story you need more space, so to speak, to explain everything and really set the rules and visualizations for the reader. When you write something with a modern or past setting you don't need as much background. It's the difference between explaining the characters goes outside and gets in the car verus going outside and getting into some type of a flying machine. Which do you need to write more about? That being said I like to do both. I try never to go into a story with a word goal but just try to get the story out. Forcing it longer or shorter can hamper my creativity and ruin the flow of the story. I can do it but I much prefer to write my story and not worry about it.
  17. Hi Fleeting Rainbow. Welcome to GA! Check out the topics in the Site Help Tab. There are quite a few in there and they are pretty easy to follow to navigate the site and start posting stories. Feel free to drop me a message on my forum or via pm if you have questions!
  18. You're right, in a lot of ways our parents and past generations most definitely influence who we are. My dad had us using the not so nice word I try never to use about gay people to reference wind surfers, which he hated. He had us using it as kids to. When I figured out what it meant I stopped in a heartbeat, considering I'm bi and didn't exactly appreciate the bigotry. I've yet to tell him about it but I can say that I accept me, because of that I'll accept my kids no matter what. I have tried to make relationships between same sex couples as ordinary seeming to them as hetero ones. To me it should be a non-issue so I'm doing my best to pass that along. I think that as more and more of my generation are parents and their children grow the opinions of society will change even more. Change that big is slow but I'm doing my part to hurry it along.
  19. Congratulations!!! Well deserved and definitely in good time, congrats on finishing your novel and becoming a Promising Author in the same month!
  20. LOL. I would guess the Tranquil is what gave him that perception. Tranquil as in quiet which seems less assertive which lends to less likely to top was probably his line of thinking. Then again the concept of a bossy bottom is hardly new so being quiet a prerequisite to being the catcher so to speak. Then we have all the strong silent types that you would expect to top based on build and demeanor... so again, not a very valid way to determine what a person does or does not like in bed. Maybe Mark's assumption that I'm a top (as much as I could be ) comes from the tie most people give my name to the CIA, which is all macho spy stuff, lol.
  21. I am really enjoying this story. It seems 'real' you know? Things happening, ups and downs, drama without being overly done. I always enjoy stories that can give me that feeling. I think my main complaint is that the chapters are too short. You do seem to leave them at natural breaks but I still feel like we are getting things in dribs and drabs. That's why I keep waiting for more to post before I read.
  22. Charlie let his momma have it! Yay!! She'll get him back with an 'I told you so' somewhere though. Moms always do!!
  23. Ahhhh, poor Ted. I'm really glad that Scott came by and Charlie is finally starting to at leat SEE his confusion and such but I don't know if that means he will be ready to do anything about it. I'm glad you didn't do Rick beating up Rick Jr. You avoided a big ole plot cliche there, great job! Now, since I waited 3 updates to read.... I get to move right along. Yay for me, no cliffie to wait for
  24. LOL. Well most parents put the spin on the fact that you're married cause you love each other and leave out all of the naughtier reasons But I do think it's all in how you approach the subject nowadays. My kids are familiar with GA but I don't think they know what it means because it's just a non-subject. I can remember the first time Annika saw 2 guys holding hands and in response to her question it was just 'because they feel like it'. No explanation needed because to her it's not really strange for two people of any gender to be holding hands. She still holds hands with her friends and so does my son, physical affection is natural to children for those they care about. If adults acting the same way is treated as commonplace then it's just no big deal. I'm fortunate to live in an area where you can walk around and see gay couples pretty openly affectionate and comfortable so we're lucky. Society is changing on a basic level with each generation I think.
