  1. I think you tell a great allegorical tale, but how to solve the conundrum? That's a real doozy! Weighing the pros and cons and figuring out what you really want is key to success

    Am I wrong?

Honestly, it's difficult to know how to feel. Relief if they're gone? Happiness you don't have to worry about seeing them ever again and knowing they can't hurt anyone else no matter what? It's a complicated situation. Just as difficult as knowing they're still out there and could be anywhere, doing anything to anyone. You never quite feel right then either. Abuse never really goes away and affects a person in different ways. The feelings of guilt, anger, shame, relief, happiness are all probably mixed together and it's never easy to work through them. Doing so publicly, well, you have my respect.

    Economic Realities....

I'm offering Cause well, you've gotten enough words of wisdom. You care, that's a good bit more than some others.
  5. LMAO, Ah well. I'm okay with that I guess Genre: Informal Female = 932 Male = 2053 Difference = 1121; 68.77% Verdict: MALE Genre: Formal Female = 585 Male = 1028 Difference = 443; 63.73% Verdict: MALE
  6. For online stories it's typically poor writing. If the story is too cliche or there isn't a good flow I'm just not going to enjoy it so why waste my time? Books.... well typically it comes down to knowing what I like and what I don't. I will purchase books in specific genres to give them a chance and then if I like them I buy the series. The poor writing rarely comes into play with a published work so then it comes down to plot originality and the characters usually. If I can't identify with them or go, ooh... that's interesting when I read I won't continue. Being a speedreader I typically give it 200 pages or so to grab my attention, after that if it's no good, I toss it.
  7. Yay! It's your birthday!!

Eloquently put West. That much emotion... hugs.
  10. I write in sexual content into some of my stories but I'm sort of discreet. I don't need a play by play when I read a sex scene and I don't feel the need to give one. I also don't like sex in every chapter but well done scenes certainly add a bit of spice to some stories. Depending on the words used a few sentences insinuating the contact can be just as intriguing and vivid as someone who feels the need to describe each touch and sound and... well you get the picture. Basically if the relationship and situation calls for sex I write that, if it calls for intimacy I write that. There are so many different ways to shade things. Simply saying yes sex or no sex doesn't really encompass the entire situation.
  11. Somone who isn't smart I went to the wrist bracelet give away in the morning so that I didn't have to wait around I was one of the first 100 people to get my book and I didn't have to wait in any line And hello, it's the Pac NW, it's just rain silly.
  12. I never would have read the books but my uncle gave me his copy to borrow when I couldn't do anything but read. I have to admit to going to the midnight party at a bookstore in order to get Deathly Hallows. Of course I took it home and read it all night until it was done before I could sleep I wait to see the movies when they come out on dvd and I can buy them however. But yeah, I own those too. I'm a geek as well

  16. I'm not a big subscriber into true love. That being said I've been with someone I met essentially since the first minute we met. There was a clicking that we both felt. I was only 16 at the time, I said 'I love you' only 3 months into it the relationship and that was almost 13 years ago. It's not a happy joy joy everything is perfect love, it's real which means it's work. The false ideal that everything is perfect and there are never any problems once you have that 'true love', that is what I don't buy into. What I do believe is that there has to be someone out there that can be just as good for everyone as I have found. At least I hope so, and that is all you can do, right?
  17. Only really vain people believe that outward appearances are the be all and end all of a person. I don't care what a person looks like if they are genuinely nice but even I can appreciate a nice appearance. But what I think is nice other people may think is ugly or drop dead gorgeous *shrugs* I firmly believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  18. Have a great birthday hun!
  19. Happy Birthday Roses
  20. Unfortunately for most men vs. women situations unless the man is indeed smaller they will typically be stronger than a woman. Even when they are both the same size. If I know a person's weaknes I wouldn't be above exploiting it to avoid getting my own butt kicked. Sad but true that most women go for the guy's family jewels. It incapacitates them and that is always a good thing if someone is looking to harm me. Now, is that fair? Nope, but it's not our fault that nature didn't give us such an obvious point of weakness. Of course I punch not slap so I typically had an advantage over any girl I ever fought as well. As for fear and trust when it comes being hit by a man versus a woman I think society plays a very major role in that. Most of the time women are portrayed as victims and we are typically used to the thought of the possibility of being a victim from a young age. I think it plays into our psyche quite a bit, for both men and women. Men aren't supposed to be victims, they are supposed to be strong and able to defend themselves. A good example of this sort of bias would be rape statistics. I won't quote anything specific because unfortunately they are highly subjective but just about every source I've checked shows ratios that are vastly dissimilar. I average that perhaps 35-40% of male-female rapes are reported versus 10% of male-male. Female-male and female-female rape report statistics are almost negligible. Our belief that men are primarily aggressors and women victims are patently false but it's a societal bias that I think we need to overcome. Harm is harm, no matter what type and no matter who initiates it.
  21. That was great! I laughed, which made me cough and once I was done hacking up my lungs I laughed again
  22. Sometimes I outline, sometimes I don't. I think I begin each story I think will be long with at least a few pages of notes, though not necessarily a list of characters and chapter outline for each. Though I do try to do something like that if I don't think I'll be able to get to writing it right away. I typically post each story as I write and then end up going back looking for details if I can't remember something. That wastes a lot of time though. I like not knowing how each chapter will go though. It's a mystery where each chapter is going as I sit down to write it. That's fun for me. So I guess I see the upside to each way of writing.
  23. I've always been fascinated by the legends of the banshee. My favorite animal is most likely fire lizards, I'm sure you sci-fiers know what series I'm talking about.
  24. You gave me just about the best compliment that I have ever been given since I started writing next year. I have often had that feeling at the beginning of a story and the fact that I managed to overcome your indifference and get you emotionally involved in the story is wonderful! Thanks so much for leaving this review. I hope you enjoy what you find. I also have a few more projects in the works. Thanks!!!
