As I said, this can go so many different ways; right now, I am expecting just about anything....

I'm kind of disappointed with Troy, his relationship with Owen has hit a bit of a rough patch, they have set a date for a wedding, and I know much can happen between now and then. But as Troy says in chapter 18, he chose Owen and made a promise to him. “I don’t want separate paths. I’m looking forward to our future together.” Owen shushed me. “Promise me.” My heart did a weird little flip. I kissed him and whispered, “I promise.” Then there is the constant texting back and forth and the half-truths to Owen the day Troy and Miles went to the beach. Too many cross currents and purposes here: is Owen cheating, is Troy being less than truthful, and Miles and the cat...so many ways this can go...I'm simply...

For a short story, this was phenomenal and very well done. It does beg another chapter or two, and yes...by itself it works as a standalone.

Loved it!! So spot on...I'm waiting for the moment they start finishing each other's sentences... Nobody said a word. Even Eddie kept his mouth shut. For almost three whole seconds. Then, from the back row— "So..." He raised one hand. "...does this mean I get assists for marriage counselling?"

Simply priceless!!! Loved this chapter!!!! Then, without taking a breath, Kidd began peppering both Bass and Jake with questions: “What breeds of dogs? Can we have hound dogs? Who’s going to run it? Can I help? Please, please, pretty please, I’ll take real good care of them. How many dogs? Where will they live?” Turning to Jake, Kidd continued, “Please, Jake, can I help? I worked at a kennel, my last job, and I did all the ordering; I cleaned the kennels, I taught all the dogs all kinds of tricks and did obedience training, and... and gave them baths and... and...”

Oh boy, this is heating up....

And the game is afoot…how well will the Texas be able to follow our intrepid hero’s? I can see a hit and run dogfight to the next or other relay stations. IF I were a betting man, I’d bypass the closest ones….but who knows what’s in store!! BTW….kudos to Lt Guy and Flip!

Brilliant....I was wondering how the captain's actual specialty was going to play into this story.... He stood up from the command chair and walked slowly, carefully toward the massive panoramic window. He stared out into the swirling, opaque gas. He wasn't looking at stars, or tactical overlays, or mathematical probabilities. He was doing the one thing he was genuinely, inherently, deeply trained to do. The one thing Karen had always mocked him for. He was reading the weather. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....not the golf clubs.......... "Well," Doc rasped, breaking the heavy silence on the bridge. He pulled his unlit cigarette from his mouth, staring at the main viewscreen with an expression of profound, cynical awe. "And I thought my ex-wife was nuts when she took a set of golf clubs to my vintage Corvette... this woman is on a whole other level of unhinged!" They need to get a report to fleet HQ ASAP and protect First Officer Cole and the rest of those who followed...If they make it to testify and ship's logs confirm his account, she's toast...

And the other shoe is dropping... Maria had been distant that morning, complaining about his wet gear dripping on the floor when he returned. Kody is one hot mess. I can only imagine the 'fireworks' when he's getting naked in a darkened bedroom for the first time with a willing participant...the glow from his cheeks...get your mind out of the gutter, dear readers; I'm talking about the ones up top...afterwards...that's a whole nuther story... Been there and done that... I changed quickly, thinking briefly about trying out one of the new pairs of underwear, but decided to save them for a special occasion. Like, after a shower. And just what are you hiding there Kody???? Inquiring minds are a tad curious... For instance, I never buy Fruit of the Loom because of that FTL they put on them. It looks tacky, like a house brand cheap garment, or something made in a sweat shop. Not to mention they fit poorly. Let's just say things never stayed where I put them.
