Had Louis looked towards Lincoln, not as a 'secure' outpost of his control, and seen it for what it was, understaffed and manned, he may have survived the loss of his resupply fleet. And able to weather the storm, hopefully, until the next supply fleet. I'm reminded of the following proverb, which, while written much later, applies here... For want of a nail the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost; and for want of a horse the rider was lost, being overtaken and slain by the enemy, all for want of care about a horse-shoe nail And one might say, for the want of that horse-shoe nail, a kingdom was lost For want of a nail - Wikipedia It will be a significant moment for Kalen, having been recognized for his rebuilding of Lincoln, a reward for his actions. What title will come of this? We still have the Scotts, quietly biding their time. What encouragement do they make of Louis's defeat? Do they sense an opportunity to test the young King?

Chapter 7 Boy Meets Third Person
drsawzall commented on Grayson Rose's story chapter in Chapter 7 Boy Meets Third Person
Timing could have been better, wonder what’s on Peter’s mind? -
This should be interesting to say the least

That the confrontation with the thugs may have been a setup is extremely troubling… Toss in the feeling of being watched coupled with the black car following is puzzling… Pete’s warning about Naren is spot on. Obviously a large sum of money is at play here and Marvin needs to know all of this…

The Blue Light of Dawn & a concert in the country
drsawzall commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in The Blue Light of Dawn & a concert in the country
I’m hooked -
We know from a previous chapter that Xavier had the thought that he could take his father in a battle of dominance… She smiled quietly. "It's okay Xavier. I know I'm getting older. Slower." "If you lost," I said, looking up. "Dad would challenge them. Then I’d be next." I held her gaze. "If we failed… the whole line ends. And the pack would belong to whoever took it from us.” Again something doesn’t seem right… Austin presents quite the conundrum… Aaron, what did he do besides not sharing the bitter truth…

Could not agree more… @Summerabbacat… “Beauty was mandatory at Veridien. Lawrence took in the ornamental bushes that cinched the entrance wall like a belt. Early frost hadn’t yet blighted the red fruit, so it still clung aplenty to the twigs. Lukas’s toxicology report had been clear: no alcohol, no known narcotics, and no identifiable poisons. However, the forensic pathologist’s notes had made an interesting read – slight inflammation of the throat and signs of mild gastric irritation." and "Bastien raised his eyes. He looked at Lawrence from below, his eyes clear and passionless. “Mezereon,” he repeated. “Ingestion leads to poisoning. Not fatal if treated in time, of course.” Things are moving quickly, does Lawrence possess the “key” to unlock Bastien’s rosebud?

Oh Sam…you are treading a slippery slope and you need to be honest with Graeme…

Death in a small family unit like this is horrible, but the death of a child is devastating…I imagine that this will resonate for some time. I suspect Malik will be learning a bit more of the dangers the immediate surroundings present. His mother astounds me, why would anyone tell a child something like that?

More likely ice cold limoncello shots….

Yes indeed, but don’t forget the guitar will need to be wearing a blue dress paint job….with the accompanying stain…

Misunderstandings are going to lead to a larger issue... The flare of jealousy surprised him with its sharpness. It was irrational, he knew that, and yet it burned. Gianluca looked whole in that moment, aligned with himself, untouched by the compromises Matteo carried like lead beneath his ribs. Gianluca, for his part, noticed Matteo only after. He saw the strain at the corners of Matteo’s mouth, the careful neutrality, the faint shadow beneath his eyes. He mistook it for calculation, for the caution of a man who had chosen safety over truth. And the greed of a Pope will lead to many lives wasted...

The Space Between Breaths
drsawzall commented on Tony S.'s story chapter in The Space Between Breaths
Is this a first, positive step, or another distraction? Kent is smart enough that he knows he needs to interrupt the spiraling he is suffering from. The hardest part is that honest assessment that he isn’t alone and needs the help of others. has he turned that corner? -
With my fear of heights, they would have to use several rolls of duct tape to ensure I was "strapped" in...just kidding folks... Something I haven't done yet and look forward to doing!~ !

drsawzall commented on Valkyrie's blog entry in Gay Authors News
My thanks to all who helped to put this anthology together and to all who participated. For me, this was my first foray delving into the land and world of poets. I am ever so humbled by the support and the welcoming comments my entry received. To all of you, my thanks, and looking forward to next year! -
I suspect the ghost is the recently departed guitarist….

Looks to be very interesting…I once lost most of my muffler system one dark and stormy night. Fortunately it was on a small country, rural road and I was able to collect all the pieces, and put it back together so I could be on time for a hot date, but that’s a story for another time….

Kaplan was correct in chewing out Killian, and I fear to little or no affect. One thought, at least it wasn’t a car chase… The sirens were growing louder. "I was hiding, but I, um, revealed myself when Alexander shot Ricky." "What do you mean?" "I...may have confronted him." "You confronted the guy with a gun who'd just shot somebody? With a gun..." "I just...reacted in the moment." "You could have been killed!" "I know." "Killian!" "I know Well, all that is left is to find out who killed the professor. Will Ricky be able to shed any light on the killer? When it was mentioned that the authorities were looking for Joiner, my money is still on him. I suspect the professor confronted him at the dig site.

My only concern is that too many others saw Declan’s leg. Explaining the near miraculous healing is going to engender several difficult questions. I have to ask, is it possible that the miracle of the waters might extend Cianan’s time amongst us?
