The whole episode with the attempted break-in seems to be, with the assistance of the caretaker, more than a bit dodgy and good thing they left when they did... Of course I bet the scratches on my back and the bruising along my ribs had something to do with it. Maybe the blood stains on a dirty pair of underwear clenched the deal. Well this chapter answered a couple of questions while poising a couple more... In their badgering for the Lord-Lieutenant for Freddie, what would the monetary gain be??? Will they be desperate enough to approach the fallen harlot Caroline and have her come after Grainger with rumors of sexual peccadilloes??? I also fear we haven't seen or heard the last from Davinia... I trully want to know what's really driving the Duke and little Lord Freddie..... “Daventry is right,” Cavendish said. “He owes his position to you.
