Chapter 14 - Ronging, Part Four
drsawzall commented on Adam Andrews Johnson's story chapter in Chapter 14 - Ronging, Part Four
flaming objects tossed down, boulders, sharp sticks and a dozen other methods come to mind... -
God dang...I don't miss my high school days with all the drama of others...I get the feeling things are going to go pear shaped very quickly... I was thinking Stacy had a stick up her backside but realize it's a 2X4...how does her mother not see this or her report cards... Craig, my best guess if he is lucky is he'll barely escape going to jail with his rep in tatters...if he's lucky...

Oh my...the following says just so much...Growing up is never easy...is it? Marco’s brow knotted anxiously; it was plain that he was trying hard to make sense of everything. “So… why say no? Don’t you trust him, or something?” Daniele spread his arms helplessly. “All the things we’ve done together,” he said desperately. “Like helping each other to climb mountains, or the way we looked out for each other during the business with Ettore last year… I trust Giaco with my life. Just not…” He tailed off miserably, drawing another ragged breath. “…with your heart?” Marco suggested quietly.

Don't I know it, if I had a crate of duct tape, a gross of zip ties and my trusty sawzall, I could rule the universe, well...at least my backyard... I love my sawzall, the swiss army knife of electrical tools!!!!

Engineer Benson - Chapter 9 July 23 - 24, 1993
drsawzall commented on Wayne Gray's story chapter in Engineer Benson - Chapter 9 July 23 - 24, 1993
It's an interesting dichotomy and an exercise juxtaposition, to contrast the differences between our protagonists and a collective of zombies, who it seems are somewhat remotely akin to the Borg from Star Trek. While they are wandering aimlessly, it would seem that there is a 'hive' mentality, who, what, or how are they being directed?? I dropped back behind the roof peak and scooted toward the ladder. "Guys, we've got company. A lot of it. We need to keep it down and stay out of sight." I descended the ladder, and we all gathered in front of the house. "How many?" Mark asked, instinctively gripping the hilt of his knife. "God, hard to say." I ran a hand through my sweaty hair. "Hundreds. Way more than we dealt with in town. Way more. It looks like a bunch of army guys and some of the sick folks they'd quarantined." When you have one or two wandering, it's harder to see any links between them, when you have groups the size going after Mr Buck or the ones that passed the farm, it gives one pause for thought, is it instinctual, as young chickens know that shadows flying over them mean danger, or are they somehow being conducted? What allows the zombies to act in a cohesive manner? As to wearing dead zombies shoes or other items of clothing, ya gonna need lots of bleach and some ultraviolet lighting... Then as the wise old know-it-all once said, good fences make the zombies pass by like ships in the night... -
Chapter 8 - July 22, 1993

How in the heck did I miss this??? I loved the Foxfire series and have all of them, truly wonderful, informative books, but then again somewhere in my vast collection I also have several books by Eric Sloane and his illustrations of early colonial life. Of course I had to go out when I was a much younger man, just after the civil war and bought the Anarchist Cookbook, full of a lot of things that could get you into trouble or...get you into trouble.... https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/250725.Eric_Sloane https://duckduckgo.com/?q=anarchist+cookbook&atb=v314-1&ia=web -
Dear lord in heaven...I nearly didn't make is past this...not sure if it was will power or not...got to love a tool user!!! At that moment, Eric slipped out the rear door and jogged over to his jeep. Whistling, he pulled the passenger door open, flipped the seat down, and began to rummage in the back. He had to lean halfway over to do it, stretching the material of his shorts tight across his ass. Michael’s stomach flipped. Yep, an excuse would be crucial. He took a shaky breath, then another when the first didn’t help with his sudden dizziness. The view had his body reacting in a predictable manner...damn it. Eric shouted a satisfied “Aha!” and slithered out of the car, smiling triumphantly at the crowbar in his hand. Hair disheveled and falling in his face, smudge of dirt across one cheek, he was radiant.

Anything that brings an end to the Messiah's is a bonus, but...it needs to be an organized resistance...

Tilby and Liovia seemed to have much in common, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I imagine our heroine who lost an arm may just have found, or will find, someone who can help her out...if we can't have a meteor, can we at least have a deadly viral infection for the gunge??? -
I think @drpaladin has the gist of it, the tail is either lost or misplaced...not in the hands of those who would do harm...yet! BTW, as mother used to say, you'll find what you are looking for, where you last left it...and as an aside...Parallax should truly think of a new occupation...is he related to the Secret Service agents that failed to protect the President's National Security Advisor, as we learned in the news this week??? Think of the simple answers/places...

Enzo and the old bitch, ooops, witch are up to no good, wonder how they will tie into the grand summer plans... Giaco is one confused boy, or is it one scared young man, insecure as to what he's learning about himself. There's a bit of Peter Pan in Giaco. Unlike Marco who knows and is growing in confidence... “You know what,” Daniele grumbled. “Don’t make me say it.” Giacomo nudged him playfully with his shoulder. “Never change, Dani.” “You like me checking you out?” Daniele asked incredulously. “It doesn’t suck,” Giacomo admitted. Daniele frowned as he reflected on the other boy’s words. But why, Giaco? What do you get out of it?

Chapter 12 - Ronging, Part Three
drsawzall commented on Adam Andrews Johnson's story chapter in Chapter 12 - Ronging, Part Three
Dang...a wasted chance, what was the purpose of letting him live??? Without a doubt one or more of his kind helped to free him...such a shame... -
Oh...what a tangled web does our author conceive...I think the 'leavers disco' is just the beginning of a hormonal stew of tangled thoughts and feelings...I suspect there will be fireworks of all sorts coming up...growing up is never easy, is it??? Thinking I need a half dozen of those cherry turnovers as I enjoy the back alleys and side streets tour of Ravello...

So nice to be back in Ravello, and knowing a bit more about the kiss is truly setting the stage for what I think will be one heck of a ride as we follow our protagonists.. Allow me to chirp about the weather here, just south of Boston Ma...after an exceptionally warm, and dry winter, less than 10 inches of snow out of an expected average 60 inches, spring came 3-4 weeks early. We are in a warm dry spell where for the past couple of weeks and for at least the next two weeks, we'll see temps from the mid 60's to the mid 80's...and no rain in sight for the next 10 days... Looking forward, eagerly anticipating the rest of this tale!!!

Add me to all the positive comments above, another fabulous chapter and with all the wonderful descriptions of food, thank goodness I was reading this with my lunch!!! I am looking forward to learning more about the game preserve, and it sounds like a wonderful business proposition!! Dan and Joan are two of my favorites and simply the best after the children and Rascal!!!

No wastin time by either Mike or Eric...it is a question of just how hot that smoldering fire is gonna last. As to the rest concerning Mike's non-promotion, what is it that Delaney that bumps him up over seniority...something is afoot, the comment regarding how the steel plant left fo better economical conditions is worrisome... As to this...I'm calling BS!!! “I’m not going to mince words. I’m giving the foreman job to Delaney. Now before you speak, hear me out.” Again, fine. Michael found he couldn’t have uttered a word even if he’d wanted to. “As you’re well aware, you have every right to appeal to your union rep. You’ve got more time in and more experience on the floor. What I’m asking is if you’ll consider abiding by my decision. I have my reasons.” Michael gave a slow nod, and Ed took that as permission to continue. “I’ve got my eye on something for you, Mike, and I think it’ll be a better fit for your skill set. In the meantime, Delaney’s got the education behind him that will help sort out the people problems that come with being a foreman. You catching my drift?”

I don't disagree with your comment and I may not have been clear enough, I would have David seen by both specialists the very same day, doctor first, dentist second...waiting 4 weeks to assess the state of David's oral needs is/was not wise...
-
I also like @weinerdog and @raven1 had the same gamut of emotions, so incredibly sad that, before Ronnie, no one saw the need in David, or the condition he was in...So glad to see that somehow GG was behind finding him, let's hope that David fully recovers and makes everybody proud of his life's achievements.. My only other thought was I would not have waited to see the oral surgeon. While David possibly wasn't in the best possible health, the lack of or poor oral care is the beginning of the infectious disease highway...My feeling was that he needed to be seen ASAP if only to get a handle on a treatment plan... A heart wrenching chapter CL to say the least, well done!!!

Jackson getting expelled isn't the end I fear, if not criminally charged he'll simply have too much time on his hands. In his current situation, I strongly suspect his, and I'm being generous here, two working brain cells aren't connecting, and there just may be trouble lying in wait...while I hope we've seen the last of him, I remain unconvinced he's been neutered...If he somehow survives to middle age, I could see him running for governor and eventually the vice presidency...😬 Nate and his entire family are making great progress very quickly. I hope they all realize they aren't anywhere out of the woods yet.. Then there is Dr. Gavin Casey...what more needs to be said about the wonder Doc...everyone should have a sounding board like him...as to his background, why am I reminded of another famous Dr Casey as some of us over a certain age may recall...
