Nothing like the element of surprise...time for everyone to have a heart to heart talk...that means you Elias...what would the Raptor be worth in a trade for another ship...
-
I think a bigger ship is going to be needed, the crew is about to grow...Would like to know more about the Orion people...
-
This should make things interesting, I believe Kendrick's father might be an issue...I hope not.... Interesting that Kendrick knew the uniform and insignias ...time to establish a chain of command to keep things running smoothly...
-
I suspect they will be leaving with an additional crew member,,,and the following indicated some things never change... "My engineer," Darien explained holstering his PKD. "Matt Elias, Magistrate Leighton." The magistrate nodded, "We have a crane we could lend to you, perhaps a trade. You wouldn't perchance have any coffee tucked about, would you?" Elias grinned, "Columbian, back in the ship-two cans enough?" he started across to the Dragonfly.

I wonder what other treasures they may find...and are the locals friendly???
-
I think Elias' acquisition of "cargo" will/should become noticeable in take-off and flight maneverability, and if not...when they acquire more salvage as the lack of room for additional "cargo/weapons" would be noticable... I think Darien and Elias will be good for each other...it seems he may have been constructed to pleasure others , a highly gifted courtesan...
-
They may have had a fortuitous escape but they are going to need a weapons system if they are gonna survive...

I was trolling around the further corners of GA and came across this looking forward to some good science fiction...looks amazing!!

For Armand those dreaded days of the boys going off to college are coming closer and we know there will be a return visit by Grandmere in the not too distant future!! While I understand the need for security, it does seem to be needed!

You've managed to capture the emotion, angst, and concern very well and very believable. Alex has certainly gone thru the emotional wringer. As for the lateness of Dan's phone call, it is understandable given his reactions. It would not of helped if he called before he pulled himself together! Well done sir!!

Mr. Ream, a Funeral, and Uneasy Sleep

Damned if you do or damned if you don't...what are the odds of celibacy lasting 24 hours...48 hours...??? -
Frodd has some hidden talents, now it is well past time to teach these Pratwith Goons a quick and humiliating lesson...enough of this pussyfooting around...go Rafe!!!

If I had to come up with a title for this chapter I would consider Breakthroughs and Catharsis...It pained me to see Sami's first day was upsetting, but then children are mirrors of their parents...Not only was I upset that my mother left me outside the classroom, the teacher had me move from the desk with all the scissors...wasn't my finest moment to say the least, but...it did get better... We know now the source of Marco's angst and I hope Marco realizes he has places of safety if things are temporally unmanageable at home, and thank goodness he had/has Gianni to lean on...that scene in the square had me going... Safe to say the ice has broken between Sami and Gianni, that bond is growing as evidenced by the after school pick up, hot chocolate and consoling him as he went to bed... Giacomo needs to find the time to help his mother on her morning deliveries...and how will a lapsed Reza connect with Sami... Lorenzo worries me, will Gemma have the strength to be there for her son??? Thank goodness Angelo is there for Gianni as he expels some buried demons and harsh memories...

Y'all just cain't have nuff sprouts, haven't had 'em with breakfast just yet, but there's still time!!

A breakthru may have been achieved, I just wished it was without the violence...minor as it may have been. I keep thinking back to the parable where Jesus talks with the woman at the well...If I found myself in a similar situation, my efforts would have continued on talking Mitchel down till he was able to process what he had done...hitting is never the answer...

It's so interesting to see how the weather plays into Gianni's mood and the overall setting...I found the following giving me some reflections of my own... Last Friday/Saturday a polar cold front swept thru the metro/suburban Boston Mass area, starting Friday night and lasting till mid-morning, low tem for the day was -11 degrees Fahrenheit or -28.8 Celsius, with 45 mile per hour winds giving us a wind chill of nearly -60 F or -50C. Otherwise it has been a very mild winter with little to no snow, course the winter of 2015/16 we saw 150 inches/381cm in a 7 week span... Gianni needs to pull himself back just a bit, the reason he's stressing is he's trying just a bit too hard...Elena sounds like a good shoulder to lean on, the same with Reza and Tiz, it will be interesting to see how that dynamic will work, I'm not sure Sami going to stay with them is necessarily the right move...it could be very unsettling to Sami... I find it interesting that Marco is finding some semblance of comfort/security with Gianni and Angelo...Could Marco hold the key or be the link that brings Sami closer to Gianni and Angelo??? The hints of his troubling home life have me puzzled/curious as to what is truly going on... And...The birthday parties are on, will events run smoothly or will there be trouble from unexpected quarters??? Another fantastic chapter...just had to make some brussel sprouts with bacon to go with supper...mmmm

To some it would be heretical...but turkey bacon????
-
Oh you soulless heathens disparaging brussel sprouts, you haven't lived till you've had 'em roasted with bacon...and for the philistines' you can always add maple syrup... I can see Reza may be of significant help with Sami and that has me wondering he and Tiz's long term plans, but if I remember correctly his parents were mixed faiths... Patience Gianni, you'll get there and the rewards of doing so will be so well worth it... Emilia is certainly proving that girls mature quicker than boys, it sounds like her mother Monica suffers from a mild to severe case of aspirations due to expatiation's... I am so looking forward to both of the parties/dinners...is it wrong to be sad that there are only 8 chapters left??? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=brussel+sprouts+with+bacon+recipe&atb=v314-1&ia=recipes Y'all gotta know that bacon makes everything better....

Well done and boy did this bring back some memories...Like Dan, I was a bit smaller, not an athlete and quite the bookworm and got called out on it more than once. With the exception of math, I was quite the studious scollar to the dismay of some classmates. To top it off, I wasn't the least bit shy and my parents refused to have a TV in the house till I was in Junior High. Suppers in our house often saw dictionaries, encyclopedias, current event magazines or newspapers flying across the table as we argued/debated one point or another... I can remember telling my father that WE had to be in Viet Nam, course this was just after John Wayne starred in the Green Berets and telling him the newspapers were all in full support of the war. He very succinctly discussed with me his experiences in China during WW2. And tho something just may have been in the paper, didn't mean it was true... I started a voyage of discovery and soon came to a different conclusion which I was eager to impart to classmates and friends alike. I wasn't very popular and encountered some difficulties. I had befriended and helped Randy, who could have been Big Bad John. We lived not to far apart out in the boonies and our school bus was a station wagon for us remote students. I helped Randy with his homework and difficult classes, and of all things...Math came easy to him and he returned the favor. He only had to say something once to someone who wanted a piece of me for some smart-alecky remark and I was never bothered specially when I took Randy's admonition never to let my mouth write a check I couldn't cash!!!

Mitchell...Mitchell...Mitchell...What have you done??? To Actually reach out on top of the verbal abuse to hit your brother and Alex is more than shameful and so disappointing...It is going to take some work, both internally, reflection, and consideration to come out of this...I believe Jason has it in his heart to forgive but can Mitchell see the error of his ways...

What a wonderful treat to find this on the pages of GA, always a great pleasure to find myself back in Ravello...at any time of year. You have managed to hit all the right notes and underlying emotions and loved the following... “Pity there’s no superhero school,” Daniele mused. “I’d be there.” “Not without me, you wouldn’t,” Marco insisted. Daniele giggled. “Are you offering to be my sidekick?” Marco shook his head. “Nah. I’d be the best friend who goes bad and becomes a supervillain.” Daniele assumed a pose. “Beware!” he declared in dramatic tones. “It’s Marco Fardello the evil artist. He will draw you into oblivion!” Marco brandished an imaginary pencil. “You got that right.” Gianni left them to their laughter, smiling slightly. Let them still be kids for as long as they can all manage it. Angelo is right, it takes time and consistency, slow and steady will answer many questions... “We’re never going to be able to make that stuff go away, are we?” Angelo shook his head. “No, but… maybe he can learn to live with it, given time.” “There’s more,” Gianni went on. “In the bath tonight, he was asking me all sorts of questions… and, some of them, I just couldn’t answer. There are whole parts of his culture that I just can’t access or understand.” “That’s true,” Angelo conceded, “but, really, who round here can?” Gianni sighed. “How can we raise a child like Sami? We have no idea how to bring him up as a Muslim, but what’s the alternative? To strip him of his identity? How is that right?” “Gianni,” Angelo said, pulling him into a reassuring hug. “I think you’re over-thinking this. You’re trying so hard to do everything perfectly, but… what Sami really needs is for us to just be there for him… to make him feel like part of the family.” Gianni hugged him back, drawing strength from his gentle embrace. “But how can I do that if I’m not even sure I feel it myself?” “Just don’t push yourself so hard.” Sami's hug after the bath spoke volumes!!! Marco and Sami, not all that different in some respects, particularly when it comes to trusting folks. Both need some stability!!!
