“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.” Albert Einstein

I'm not impressed with 10 or Microsoft. Suggesting that hardware manufacturers should make their products compatible with Windows 10 is enough to make me say no thanks, I'll go for something else whenever I think I need to change my OS. Microsoft sucks, just like it always has.

I don't like being tracked and analyzed so I put Ghostery on my browser and they can't see where I've been or what I look at.

I have seen this in the news, and it's true that Turkey wants to separate itself from it's past. It's also a fact that true Muslims do not believe in or practice murder. Islam isn't about killing and they don't promote the murder of infidels. This fact is lost sometimes because of the Muslim extremists in the news. It's also important to remember that the Turkish murder of Armenians occurred under the Ottoman Empire about 100 years ago. I think that the problems that exist today need to be given more thought than the things that happened before any of us were even here. While history has it's place, there needs to be some objective thought about how it's used. It's also important to recognize that Pope Francis didn't use the word genocide as a matter of choice, but was simply quoting a declaration made by Pope John Paul II and the Armenian church. The Armenian massacre was a tragedy, but there is nothing of any value to be gained by rubbing it in the face of the Turkish people today, who had nothing to do with events 100 years ago. The world doesn't need to perpetuate historical hatred, it needs to build a means to peace and compassion.

I wouldn't do anything to stop anyone from their right to free speech. I don't want anyone trying to stop me from speaking openly, and protecting my right to do so requires that everyone else's right is protected, too. It doesn't matter if it's done on TV or not. It doesn't matter if I agree with what's said. Many people believe being gay is wrong. Many people also believe being a Christian is wrong. It's their right to say so, just as it's anyone's right to openly disagree. If openly expressing your beliefs isn't allowed, then a lot of things would never happen, like the creation of Gay Authors. I don't agree with anti-gay people like Mr. Robertson, but it's his right, and an important one, to express his beliefs. George Washington, who I'm sure you know, said “If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” Just as we have the right to express our disagreement with the opinions of others, they have the right to be heard just like we do. Censorship in any form is the foundation of tyranny. Freedom is the most valuable idea of all ideas, and anything that lessens it is a step toward oppression and dictatorship. In the end, I wouldn't try to silence anyone, because I value my right not to be silenced. That is the foundation of a free society, and without it our freedom will disappear. -

I can't talk for other people, but I don't look at myself as gay. I don't want to be looked at as gay. I think that if I set myself apart as being gay then so will other people. I'm not hiding my sexuality, but I don't make it an issue because it's people making an issue of it that causes problems to start with. I like to think that I'm making it a non issue because that's what I want others to do. The few times that someone has tried to make it an issue with me I ignored it for the most part, and it never became an issue. I'm sure people talk about it in private, but I'm treated with the same respect that I treat others with, and I'm accepted as just another person anywhere I go. Some people may not like me but they don't have any allies to help them so they keep their thoughts to themselves. Some people will never accept the idea of someone being gay, so getting them to shut up and act like it's OK is fine with me. I think that in these types of situations the best thing to do is ignore the negatives and go about your life just like everyone else. Sometimes trying to counter someone's attitude only seems to strengthen it. I live in farm country full of country people and I don't think there are very many of them that care whether or not I'm gay. If I was pushing it in their face then that would probably change. I suppose it's possible that I'm just lucky, but I don't think so.

I think the best thing to do is tell him the same things you've told us in this post. I think he needs to know if your going to make progress. If your not open with him about your fears and concerns then you can't expect anything to change, and your going to be wasting your time again. If he's not open to that kind of conversation then I would have to wonder what kind of future you could expect to have with him.

I'm not interested in changing my sexuality or my body. I do understand that some people aren't happy with themselves for various reasons, and they may wish to make changes. I think that's important to think about. I also think that their sexual orientation is probably not high on their list of things to change. I don't know how often anyone questions their sexuality. I don't question mine, and I don't think most people do whether they're gay or not. It seems more likely to me that people accept their sexual interests, and would be more likely to change their gender. If your a guy who like guys then maybe you wish you were a woman. It's not a subject that's as simple as it seems. People aren't the same and they all view things their own way, so some would make the change and others not.

I Can't Believe That This Happened In Canada

It's a shame we have such a idiot for a president here. ISIS gets to kill and rape without fear while we do some bombing here and there, probably just to make it look like something is being done. If Obama wanted to stop these freaks I think we could do it in a couple of weeks or so. He said the plan is to destroy ISIS, but everybody knows that's not going to happen with the weak approach he's using now. I suspect he might really be interested in NOT destroying them. Either that, or he's really a lot more stupid than anyone previously thought. Allowing ISIS to continue this way is as much a threat to us as ISIS itself. Maybe even more so.- 11 comments

These are the reasons why I don't like watching TV. Who wants to watch murders, rapes, robberies and all the other nasty stuff that's on. I don't think it's any fun at all.
