Chapter 8 Battle Fatigue
Geemeedee commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 8 Battle Fatigue
I feel for Drake, but more for Jimmy. It’s like he’s banging his head against a brick wall. I think he should find another job and move on with his life without Drake, because obviously Drake’s a mess. If Drake does the work he needs to do on himself and finds Jimmy later, great. If he doesn’t, Jimmy at least has a chance of finding happiness with someone else. -
And does Klaus think calling Jake “love” is enough to let him know how he feels? I thought Klaus knew Jake enough to not assume that.
-
I honestly don’t get Jake’s reaction. Diaz was released, which I thought was stupid — his whole crew would think he was a snitch if he didn’t go to jail with them. And Diaz wanted to fight. He got a broken leg, but he was still alive. I guess Jake still has a lot of growing up to do. I was confused by Klaus’ reaction here: “Klaus chose to stand his ground, looking Diaz straight into his dark mean eyes. He could see the resemblance. Diaz was, indeed, a lucky man to be Jake’s older brother. Even if the young man had not asked for his brother to be spared, Klaus would not have found it easy to get rid of that character. It would have felt wrong.” Why would he think that? He has no respect for Diaz. He called him scum. Edited to add: OH! Does Klaus mean Diaz reminds him of Jake enough that he would be hard to kill?

I’m surprised the coach keeps calling the three gay guys into his office. When it gets out that he’s gay too, it won’t be much of a leap for parents to say he corrupted their sons. Do teens today really not Google to find out basics like how to not get pregnant? Ashley better do a search for “DNA test” next.

I recently found out my 30-year class reunion is coming up. Yeah, I’m old, LOL. I went to the 20th because I’m nosy and wanted to see how people turned out. I had fun! It was interesting to see the people who peaked in high school (sounds like Paul here) and who flourished after (I was one of those). I was bullied and made fun of in school. I survived it and understand why it happened, but that pain never completely goes away. I get Ember’s anger. I reserve comment on Ember + Brady until I see the direction you decide to take.

Oh, and what about the paint on the gym lockers? What was done about that? Did the teens tell their friends and/or families?

Does Cameon’s mom ever work? She was home in the morning for the phone call from Kevin’s mom. She was home when Cameron came home. She was home that night to watch movies. Also, it seems like every time we see her, she’s making cookies or talking about cookies. It’s like she has no life outside her son. Meanwhile, are today’s teens really this dumb? I hope Kevin kicks Paul’s ass up and down the street. And that shit about Devin looking to his brother to save him, then shouting in his face that he hates him — he’s lucky Kevin is a nice guy. I woulda told ALL his business. (Also: no way would I speak to my parents like that. I have no problem with Devin getting smacked.)

Chapter 7 Another Man's Shoes

And NO, I don’t want a fucking picture of your baby to rub it in my face that you’re off having kids with the bitch you dumped me for! The hell? Reason 1,863 I’m single.- 131 comments

Chapter 7 Another Man's Shoes
Geemeedee commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 7 Another Man's Shoes
I believe Richard when he says Drake is the only man he’ll ever want and love. Unfortunately, I think he still wants him, as that kiss let him know. I’ve been in a situation similar to this before (ex gets married, still wants to keep me on the side) and it’s so selfish on the ex’s part. I would’ve responded exactly as Drake did for most of this, so I look forward to his reaction to that kiss after thinking about it. I would take petty pleasure in fact that that Richard claims to be happy (he said it too many times, as if trying to convince himself), but he still wanted me. Great chapter! You did a marvelous job of Richard explaining himself. I actually felt sorry for him at the end. But he still ain’t shit. LOL -
You’re assuming they got a Sex Ed class. Several states still don’t allow accurate, comprehensive education about sexual health. It’s ridiculous.

Self-hatred is a motherf*cker. I don’t think anything good can come from a lemming like Paul, and I’m thinking nothing good will come from Devin, either. Sorry — I’m a woman of color seeing way too many willlfully ignorant people these days to have much hope.

NOBODY has a car?

I also agree with everything that’s been said. One thing, tho: A lawyer who would lightly chastise a teen for saying “bastard” wouldn’t use the term “suck them off.” I found that jarring.
-
Well hell, when is Klaus gonna say it?
-
Hurray for dad! (Too bad he didn’t let Kevin know he supported him, tho. Could’ve saved him from a night of crying and tortuous thoughts.)
-
Nice. Any idea how long this story will be? Are we going to explore their relationship a bit, or is the tale almost done?
-
Seems to me this relationship is the catalyst to working out a lot of family issues. I don’t really see it lasting long-term. Something I’ve noticed: the guys are talking about serious life experiences, and at times the responses come off as unfeeling. It’s probably because you’re moving the story along, but especially with Jason, it can be abrupt. Example: Joe has just shared a traumatic story of his first love, and the healing apology he received. His first love is getting married. Jason: “Wow, that’s cool. Oh yeah, I was wondering. Would you rather go by Joe or J.D.?” Wha?? Way to change the subject, dude. I’m interested in what you have planned for these characters. You’ve set us up for some good stuff.

PLOT TWIST!! I love it.

I feel sorry for their parents — they have one smart son with a big secret and one dummy who won’t even Google to learn that most myths aren’t true.

Chapter 5 Promises of Forever

And you know what? Drake doesn’t have to talk to them at all. I say act like they aren’t even there, but politely say hello if they pass. Enjoy the reception and that fine-ass man.- 90 comments

Chapter 5 Promises of Forever
Geemeedee commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 Promises of Forever
It’s rude to stare. Didn’t they have a wedding to watch? They’re lucky they didn’t get an eyebrow-raised “take a picture, it’ll last longer” look from Jimmy Dean.- 90 comments

THIS is why I give Greg the side eye. Nothing he has done or said lets us know that he puts Chris first. It’s about what Greg wants and what Greg needs and how Greg thinks a relationship should go. Why would anyone want to put their life, basically, in his hands? I look forward to seeing how this goes.
