    As drp says, distance is relative. If a "quick trip" to the grocery here takes an hour, I ask what went wrong, whereas a similar trip from my aunt's place if it takes less we ask did they break every speed limit in the book?

    That's one of the good aspects of meeting peeps through social media and becoming friends before meeting. For a good many of my online friends I have no clue of skin color, economic class, or ethnic background. While those things would not stop me from becoming friends with a good person, unfortunately there are people for whom it would be a factor, and could derail what might be a beautiful friendship before it starts.

    Funny how when people can't get a hint from the author, they turn to the support team to try again. Don't they realize that a vow of silence is written into our contracts?

    Yup, and we now know that apes are a lot smarter than people gave them credit for. We have seen them using sign language and playing with electronics, but we know who taught them about tech. Since the last caretaker, Finn's father, died a long time back, where did Sam learn? It is obviously not common knowledge, or the little nephew would have had some idea.

    Somehow a salamander buying a tablet makes me wonder how he learned enough about technology to get started. The list of questions keeps getting longer. I get the feeling when the answers start they are going to come in a downpour, not a gentle shower!

    At least I know what I will look like with a #1 buzz. Did that when I was doing the chemo and could not stand the hair falling out all over the place. Sat up the next morning and my brother was staring back at me from the mirror!

    Many law enforcement agencies used to require members to carry their weapons at all times. My uncle needed special permission to leave his weapon home while attending a family wedding. The right to carry a consealed weapon comes with the responsibility to USE YOUR BRAIN. Drinking and guns do not mix any better than drinking and driving.

    Lol hon, I work with several writers for whom English IS their second language! Sometimes it gets interesting!

    I'm the "grumpy grammar gremlin" on Bhoppers team, but I try to be nice even when stomping on a major mistake. The goal here is to make the piece enjoyable and need as little rewrite as possible should an author ever look to publish (as Cia and Mann have done). It's my job to make it as grammatically correct as possible, not to spoil the writing process for an author. I always tell them any content change I suggest to improve the flow is just that, A SUGGESTION.

    Forums, on the other hand, are open to all and can easily swing off on tangents. Conversations can and do mutate into something totally unrelated to the original topic.

    Want a parent's pov? I don't particularly care gay or straight, any more than I care Italian or Russian. It's the person you love. The bits just determine the mechanics. A friend of my daughters decided to come out to me as a trial run before telling his own mom. He was a little taken aback with my first words, "Tell me something I don't know". The whole convo was sort of a non issue. The next time we spoke, he told me his mom reacted pretty much like I did. Asked him if it had changed him to tell her. Of course it hadn't, so of course it didn't change how she felt. His dad needed a little time to adjust to the idea, the biggest issue was no "natural" grand babies, but the twit got over that. Momma looked him in the eye and asked just what was unnatural about adoption?
