Something that needs to be kept in mind with the entire JJ/Alex/ME thing is that Alex always knew he would be expected to make an advantageous marriage, and love very likely would have nothing to do with it. The aristocracy in Europe had for centuries married for matters of state and matters of love were handled behind the curtains. This is no different. That Alex and JJ have found each other and might be able to make a bad situation work for all involved strikes me as the heart of the Cap saga. No one has been hesitant to resort to behind the scenes manipulation to achieve an end in over 40 years the stories have spanned so far, and it would have surprised me if all dealings on this one were completely "kosher" as my neighbor would say. In any case, the JJ/Alex/ME situation is far from settled. Not only does it yet require a huge amount of political/social negotiation, emotions are still very fresh with all parties involved, and as reality sets in various participants may change how they react to everything. And of course we still have Elizabitch out in the cold and seething at being excluded from the game. Take a deep breath CG, calm yourself, then read the chapter again. Nothing is set in stone and the possibilities are endless!

Just because it has not happened YET does not mean it will not happen! Mark seems to enjoy letting us get comfy with a situation before turning it completely on its ear! Think how much more tension the bitchfest will have if it doesn't occur until AFTER JJ has slept with ME in some way. And from what I have read already, it does not seem like sex will be limited to when the three are together, just that only the three of them are in the "circle". I can see things blowing up after the first time ME beds JJ without Alex.

Well done Gary. Just so you know, I don't usually review every chapter. There are only so many ways to say I love the story, so I save reviews for chapters that particularly move me. Most of my comments are more suited to the forum anyway LOL! Keep it up. I am enjoying the story immensely!

Looks like I am late to the party again but better late than never! I am beginning to dislike having a day job. A well written, heart wrenching chapter. You know you have gotten to me when I start shouting at the characters to smarten up! My only complaint is a lack of a discussion forum, so if you will excuse me I will go fix that right now!

The funny thing is gay guy or straight gal, it all pretty much works the same.

You gentlemen are getting a tad ahead of yourselves with statements of Alex's family being cash poor. While there was a lot of speculation when we first met Alex as JP was researching their family archives, nothing was actually stated one way or the other. The child may very well be ME's way to get control of her trust fund, an attempt to latch onto nobility, or even just dumb luck that she has decided to take advantage of. In any case to announce things at dinner like that in front of JJ when it was pretty obvious he and Alex were together was cold. I hope one of the family has the sense to follow him up to his room!

We are speaking about a woman who allowed herself to be beaten to a pulp to further a scheme of her mothers. I think saying something on these lines just to stir the shit at a family dinner that was otherwise going too well so far would not be out of the question.

Trevor is a cousin to Wade and got tied up in Elizabeth and ME's schemes back in the dealings with Carl Haupt.

Judging from the way Alex did not react prior to the announcement that he was the father, I would say he was blindsided as well. We do not know IF he failed to use contraception or if said contraception failed, or if ME chose to deceive him about the use of contraception. It would not be the first time a woman lied about being on the pill, or even used a straight pin to make sure a condom failed. I think it is way too soon to be condemning Alex for stupidity regarding contraception. I'll be the first to holler "What were you thinking" if they failed to use any sort of protection, but till we know that he gets the benefit of the doubt.

He does, however, like to piss people off.
