Of course I never expected the voice to stay quiet! Actually I am surprised it didn't pester me in the middle of cooking holiday dinners. Thanks
  2. Matt only has Wade? Then I guess his adoptive parents with whom he has reconciled, his biological grandfather Frank and soon to be ( if she isn't already) step grandmother, and all the other people of the Crampton/Shulter family who welcomed Matt into their home, supported him through the financial difficulties after he was outted, and generally accepted him as family don't count? Wade is reacting and not thinking? Maybe. But he HAS ALSO LOST HIS FATHER. And not a second father he had just recently found, as is the case with Matt. He has lost the ONLY father he has. And no one is saying Matt is mature and wise because he is acting like a spoiled 13 yr old, not the 20-something college senior he is. Going out and bedding Tony in spite of being very aware that it would not only hurt Will but would also bother Wade seems to me to be the sort of thing i had to deal with while working with 5th graders. "I'm gonna do it just cause you told me not to." I know Sammy Blue was asking Tim, but I would like to answer his question. If my sibling ever slept with my partner (or even attempted to) there would be hell to pay. That is something no one should have to ever even warn a sibling about - let alone have happen AFTER you had made it clear it was unacceptable.
  3. As I said in My review - "Matt on the other hand knew exactly how much it would piss Will off for him to bed Tony, and apparently set out to do it anyway. And he did this knowing it would upset Wade almost as much as it would Will. Pushing the people you care about away in your grief is one thing - this is bordering on self destructive behavior. If something doesn't happen to pull his head out of his ass and put it back on his shoulders soon, the fall out might just be cataclysmic." People keep bashing Will for behaving like a 15 yr old. How can the same people not get irritated by Matt - in his 20's and supposedly an adult - acting like a 13 yr old?

    Chapter 65

Can we say burning our bridges before we are done with them? I had held out hope that Tony would grow up and learn not to be such a self centered ass, but I guess he is too much like his father for that to happen. Matt on the other hand knew exactly how much it would piss Will off for him to bed Tony, and apparently set out to do it anyway. And he did this knowing it would upset Wade almost as much as it would Will. Pushing the people you care about away in your grief is one thing - this is bordering on self destructive behavior. If something doesn't happen to pull his head out of his ass and put it back on his shoulders soon, the fall out might just be cataclysmic. I feel the most though for Wade and JP. They are the ones that had/have to do the dirty work here in telling Will, dealing with Tony now that Will doesn't want him around at all, and figuring out what to do about Matt. JP can hardly ban Matt from the house, being son and grandson to members of the family, but then, they can't just keep tossing him in a room with Will and hoping they don't kill each other either. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! The next family dinner at Escorial promises to be interesting indeed. Should I leave instructions with the staff to serve finger foods so there are no sharp implements handy?
  9. http://www.gayauthors.org/story/kitt/thevoicerambleson/1 You got me again Wayne! Now - back to the chapter I was supposed to be editing!
  10. Opportunity “Come on Cara – you know I don’t give two hoots what some ding-a-ling staring at stars at night says in a 5 line clip in a newspaper!” “Just read it Kate! At least you will be prepared when the shit hits the fan later!” “Oh, please! How can you possibly believe in this tripe?” Cara pushed my laptop back and sat on the desk blotter, pulling her feet up to sit Indian-style and crossed her arms. Do they still call it that, Indian-style
  11. A new year and a new place to park my prompt responses.
  12. Sounds like the sort of day people plan but seldom get. Here's to a 2014 filled with family and friends having good times like this! Lovely Wayne! PS to Joann- He only posted it a couple hours ago! You hardly missed it!
  13. Hello Sam and welcome. Maybe you will like us so much you'll forget all about Nifty - lots of others have!
  14. I get busy editing and miss new members...AGAIN! Welcome gents. There's lots of interesting discussion threads, tons of great reading, and plenty of room to add your stories. And you are always welcome to join us in the chat room as well!
  15. To me - it isn't about the nickle words vs the fifty centers. Its about how well the author draws pictures with those words. When well written, I tend to sink into the story and "see" it rather than just read it. While I have no objection to adding words to my vocabulary, if I find the text too filled with huge words put there just to be impressive the story loses my interest. If the author makes a habit of sitting with a thesaurus while writing, I tend not to revisit their works.
  16. We shall just have to keep reading to find out!

    Chapter 64

Thank you for yet another great chapter. I have to second Centex's words in that you didn't read the chapter, you felt it. Everything from Zach's quiet support for Will and by extension Brad to Brad's reflection and acceptance of Robbie's death. I was not surprised at some of the thoughts that ran through Brad's head sitting on that roof. I was pleasantly surprised at how well he seemed to work through the emotions that came with them without doing anything rash. Interesting how suddenly Tony isn't so important in Wills life any more. Now - to see where you take the story...
  18. Was sort of the point! Everything is a matter of perspective and if we choose to allow a phrase to be depressing it will make the truly depressing things in our lives so much worse.
  19. Works both ways Ashi - try this one on for size: Yea we are all going to die - but today is not the day.
  20. Arbourloaded is a good thing tho!
  21. But no less tasty
  22. I'm in a similar boat with Rndmrunner, in that things have changed considerably since I was in high school. Being a straight old lady perhaps I look at things very differently than most of you do. From my POV things will not really be right till everyone gets that a persons choice in sexual partners is no one else's business. Some day the terms gay and straight will be obsolete. Hopefully my grandchildren will know that time, but in the meantime it is up to us "straight and accepting" people to help institute change. The bottom line is that it really is not an issue a gay person can change - it's the bigoted straight community that needs the help. When I was in high school, a friend got up the nerve to tell me he was gay in our senior year. I had known since we were freshmen at least, probably even earlier. I think I just didn't understand enough about sexuality in general before that to connect the dots. He was so shocked when I shrugged and asked him if he thought that he was any different than he was yesterday. He had not changed in the 24 hours, why should I? I know Cele was speaking tongue in cheek, but that sort of separatism DOES exist, and it is not helping the GLBT cause. Reverse discrimination does not help the issue. I have seen instances where gay rights were defended so vehemently that it created a problem that did not exist. When I introduced myself to one woman at the stable where I work part time she assumed I was there to tell her to stay away from the riding students because of her sexuality and proceeded to lay into me about how wrong that was. Had she kept her damn mouth shut she would have found I was simply going to ask her to comply with a request not to mix grain mashes in the restrooms as the grains clog the drains. No one, including me, would ever have known she was a lesbian if she hadn't started lecturing me on how "not different" she was! The openly gay guy that stables with us was laughing his ass off at her since - in his words - i am the most easy going straight old lady he knows!
  23. a bag full of crabs is much less stupid when i can turn it into crab salad and/or crabmeat stuffing. Can't think of a damn thing i could do with starbucks coffee - certainly not drink the shit!
  24. Absorbs odors so the whole fridge and all the food doesn't end up smelling and tasting of last nights fish.

    Chapter 63

Thanks for another great chapter! I found it interesting that several readers saw fit to comment on Zach being very focused and ruthless in pursuit of his goals. Some seem to think that a bad thing in Zach, but it does not seem to bother them in Brad. No one seems to have registered that Zach insisted on going to Tribeca with Will, something Will did not expect from him. Somehow I can't help but think Tribeca is going to be a huge issue. I can hear the tic tic tic of that roller coaster climbing.
