    Biphobia

Some day the words "homosexual", "Heterosexual", 'Bisexual" and all the rest will become obsolete and people will realize we are just "sexual". I doubt we will make it in my lifetime, but once people realize that the bodily parts involved only dictate HOW we show our attraction to one and other, and its really the person under the skin that you fall in love with, all the terms will become superfluous. Here's to the day when we all learn to live with each others choices!
  2. I'd let the dang dog sleep in with me first!
  3. At £1.462 = 1$ wouldn't that be in the ball park of $2500????
  4. Don't you have a mini doxie? At 11 inches off the floor what will you say when she hides under it?
  5. Didn't that time frame have a recurrence of the "Miami Vice" look? pastel tees under suit jackets and no socks? Or is that what someone referred to as an 80's revival?
  6. LOL K-Mart seems to be pushing the envelope this year. But as I said before - the commercials are making an impression!
  7. Actual measurement, based on sales, or on polling of customers?
  8. Not fair making me chose one of the three options in the poll. I like all three but voted for the best choice IMO. Welcome to prompting Daemok!

  10. Hey - the add did exactly what it was designed to do - How many of you will never forget that Joe Boxer produces a line of novelty undershorts?

    Chapter 53

I',m always conflicted about how much of what I have to say belongs here and how much in the forum discussions. This much I KNOW belongs here - I enjoy your writing and look forward to every word. Thank you for another great chapter! Love that Will is trying to look objectively at Zach and his apparent changes. He seems to have a pretty good handle on the fact that people CAN change but sometimes only appear to have done so. I can understand why Will found it annoying that the entire family seems to be lining up against Zach, and treating Will like he is incapable of seeing the truth. Blind spots are odd things - what they seem to think are Will's may just turn out to be their own. We shall see where that one leads. It's odd how Will can be so caring and insightful as to be taking such good care of Brad - something several family members seem to have noticed, yet they still think he is in need of being protected from Zach. Just what is so bad about a teenage boy wanting his own wheels? Admittedly it has been a long time since I was that age, but i clearly remember everyone, guys and gals alike, begging, pleading, working and saving for cars of our own. Gathan had one at that age and used it to slight Zach when he left for college by leaving it to a better liked younger cousin if i recall. Gathan isn't the saint everyone currently seems to think right now. I can see there being a basis for Zach's belief that Gathan is going to be more than difficult about his trust. And then there is the whole "I am not gay" angle. Some guys may understand their sexuality early on, others have to figure it out. I seem to remember a time when Gathan was saying about the same things while sleeping with Stef, playing around with Will and professing to love Kristin all at the same time. What is so different that he gets to condemn Zach for the same thoughts? Ok - I have rambled on about things that probably should be in the forum long enough. Thank you for another wonderful chapter. I love when you set things in motion and leave us to speculate for a bit as you have done here! Well done sir!
  12. Have a wonderful day!
  13. Why Thorn! Whatever do you mean? Aren't the press SUPPOSED to sensationalize things and critique in a way to influence our opinions? Honestly - I miss the days when news was news, not bs over someone being offended by an add, and the facts were just reported and we were allowed to form our own opinions as opposed to things being presented so as to evoke the reactions someone wanted!
  14. OK - if we get kelley to take a topic my december will be officially booked solid!
  15. Did I do that? (said in my best Urkel whine)
  16. Any relation to WOW - whip em out Wednesday? That was a radio promotion around here in which women were encouraged to publically display their breasts. I do not recall the intended benifit but it caught on quickly among the college set.
  17. And they're off!
  18. I have worked with groups of 5 to 9 yr olds, coming from ALL walks of life, and not for a week at a time during summer vacation, but for 9 months a year on a daily basis for more than 12 years. Some come from environments exactly like you describe- and you are right - having supportive caring adults around DOES make a difference. You cannot however state unequivocally that a bad kid is caused by a bad parent - you simply cannot know the whole story every time! Are some bad kids caused by bad parents? Yes! and it is great that you have been able to help some of them. But to condemn all parents of kids who have taken a wrong turn in life is a bit narrow minded don't you think?
  19. Well come on in and make yourself comfortable. We are actually a pretty diverse bunch, but a more supportive group of people would be difficult to find!
  20. I agree - abandoning the kid at this stage was wrong. I cannot agree that it is always the parents fault when a kid goes bad. At 21 you have a lot more learning to do. Hell - at 53 and a mom i have more learning to do! If it is "bad parenting" then explain to me how the family I described earlier has 4 biological children, all of whom are fine, upstanding citizens? The psychopath I told you about was adopted at the same time as his biological sister. The girl turned out fine too. There was obviously something much more at work than "bad parenting". And as for "fixing it"? I hate to tell you, but some things just cannot be fixed. If they could there would be no need for psychiatric facilities designed for lifetime incarceration.
  21. Interesting where the lack of one silly little prescription a day can lead isn't it?
  22. Ummm, if naval personnel didn't participate in the war, who flew all those carrier based jet bombing missions? I was under the impression that we have had a heavy navy presence in the gulf for quite some time. You hear much more about naval aviators than you do about actual air force. I am admittedly not much on military tactics, but wouldn't MOST of the air based bombing and reconnaissance have been provided by the navy? They could launch and recover from a carrier in the gulf where as air force would have had to originated at a land based airfield adding many miles to the trips. Ok guys - one of you has to be up on this stuff! Am I mistaken?
  23. That was my point exactly Rustle! We simply cannot just blame the parents because we do not know all the facts. In the case I was personally acquainted with, the adoptive parents took both the boy and his sister at the same time. She grew up well adjusted and is a mom of two herself now. He took a major wrong turn somewhere, and in spite of continued follow up care, counciling and behavior modification medications became uncontrollable. Hence the outcome. I am not saying what those parents did was right, all I am saying is there could be a hell of a lot more to the situation than meets the press.
  24. There is more to it than that Z. There are extreme cases in which the child in question is beyond help while remaining in the home. Admittedly rare, there are cases of FAS babies who develop severe psychosis as they grow. I know one such adopted FAS baby that was provided with years of counseling etc but was eventually committed to a psychiatric facility after intentionally burning down the family home. At the time of commitment the courts assumed custody and relieved the adoptive parents of the burden.
