  1. I received mine too, so hopefully it was just a temporary glitch.
  2. The gold star is to distract him from stealing the shiny in Last Post Wins
  3. ⭐ You get a gold star

    Two Floral Odes

I like them both, but the descriptions in the second one stick out with me, particularly in the last stanza. Well done, Northie.
  5. I work full time and am busy with hobbies, travel, and volunteer work. I do a lot of my writing at work. I go in early every morning and that is my time to eat breakfast, catch up on emails, and do some writing. I also try to write a little bit during my lunch break. I use the drive to and from work to think about story ideas and problem solve areas of current projects that figuring out. If I have the time and energy during the week, I may do some writing in the evening. Or on weekends, depending on my plans.

This story was inspired by our conversations. I'm glad it rang true to you. Asexuals need more representation. Maybe I'll write more about Jason and Ollie at some point. Thank you so much for reading and your kind words
  7. The Hollow Hills doesn't have a prologue, so it wasn't that story
  8. Interesting. I'm curious now about why readers would feel the need to skip them.
  9. You can't go wrong with any of DomLuka's stories. Circumnavigation is a long read, but worth it, as are all of C James' stories. There's too many to list all of them, but Cia, CassieQ, Cole Matthews, Aditus, Parker Owens all have some of my site favorites. AC Benus' Bound and Bound - the Curse and the Captives is one of my all-time site favorites. That should keep you busy for a while. lol
  10. If the author wrote a prologue, I would assume it's because it's necessary for the story. I can't imagine why someone would skip reading it.
  11. I would have liked to participate in the challenge, but the timing didn't work out for me. A repeat in the fall sounds like a great idea.

    Maelstrom

Yes, that would probably be a good idea. There are a lot of red flags here, and they will need to learn how to deal with their issues in an appropriate way when problems arise.
  13. You've captured the essence of mingling memories with moving on perfectly. When I was much younger, I remember being horrified when my grandmother wanted us to let her know what pieces of furniture or other belongings of hers we wanted when she passed. I couldn't bring myself to think of losing her. After giving it thought... I told her I wanted my great grandpa's desk. I have such fond memories of pulling out bird books from it and guessing them based on descriptions my grandpa gave. The desk has many nooks and drawers and I've always loved it. It now sits in my den with a book owned by great-grandpa and my grandma's journal. It also has a picture of my great grandpa in a nice suit, sitting at the desk piled high with books and papers. He was a school teacher. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
  14. Will do. Thanks!
  15. Thank you @Cia I had checked my Junk Folder before posting and it wasn't there. The newsletter option you outlined above was already checked. I guess I'll chalk it up to a cyberspace glitch. I did see the FB post, which is what made me realize I didn't have it in my email. I appreciate you checking and giving me the info. Fingers crossed it comes through next week.
  16. I updated my settings when prompted a couple of weeks ago so I would continue to receive the newsletter. I received it last week, but not today. I saw a link to the newsletter posted on Facebook, so I'm assuming it was sent. Is this a glitch or am I jumping the gun and it hasn't been sent yet?
  17. Congratulations to Graeme and best of luck to Renee and Baby J 👶

    Thank you so much, Dugh.
  19. I'm so happy you've joined us for our monthly prompts I loved the use of the picture in the dream. As someone who is prone to strange dreams, I can relate. Welcome back, my dear friend.

    Balancing Act

Holy crap! That was intense! I hope Darren is caught. It just shows how you can't be too careful nowadays. The decriptions and emotions in this piece were palpable. I cringed when Darren struck Christian with the computer, and shuddered, even though I had a feeling how it would end. This was very well-written and, unfortunately, very realistic.
  21. Be sure to check out Cole's companion piece in Dinner is Prompt-ly at Eight and Aditus' response in Aditus' Prompts and Circumstances.
  22. The sun hadn’t risen enough to burn off the early morning fog, lending the landscape an air of mystery. Evan half expected ethereal arms to reach through the car window and carry him off to Neverland. Or maybe he just wished they would. It would be nice to get away after all he’d been through over the past couple of months. He sighed and glanced at the empty Styrofoam cup in the holder next to him. Today is going to be a two coffee day, he thought, and leaned his head against the cool glass of

Agreed. It's a very powerful thing to find other like-minded people and realize you are not a freak. I'm so glad you found someone to connect with in that way.
  24. It's nice to have an unplugged weekend every once in a while, but on your own terms, not because of broken technology. Glad your internet issues are fixed
