Great start I guess Josh knew what he was doing when he introduced these two. Or I suppose we'll find out at dinner...lol I'm glad that Reece at least has decent cousins. The rest of the family leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm wondering if there really are Andersons in Andersonville... I think Eustace isn't as clueless about Eric's plight as we might think. This seems like a great place for Eric to settle down for a bit and learn about kindness and the good in the world. I can see him occupying one of Eustace's son's former bedrooms. Hopefully he'll stick around for a bit instead of high tailing it out of there after only a week.

Great chapter. I love the building tension and the easy friendship Merrick and Jenson have. I have a feeling their feelings aren't going to be requited any time soon, though. The underwater scene was hot. I look forward to what's next

Farm work is hard work. One meal a day definitely won't cut it, although it's much better than not eating at all. Mr. Whitley seems like a good man. It says a lot that Eric is willing to trust him, even if it was only for thirty seconds. I can see Whitley as someone who will help Eric. I'm willing to bet he sees more than Eric thinks he does. We'll see as the story progresses... hopefully he'll stay there for a while. Oh and you are so right...sheep are as dumb as stumps. lol

I loved this! Aber is a darling, even if he does like eating after-sex brains. How perfect he found someone who can regenerate body parts. lol

There's a real art to stacking hay bales properly. That Mr. Whitley allowed him to do the stacking showed that he recognized Stefan/Eric did a great job. I'm glad that things are at least temporarily looking up for him. Fingers crossed that they will stay that way.

The End??? Awww... I really enjoyed this story. The ending was nice. It was sweet how Will proposed with hot chocolate. I know I've said it before, but Teddy is so freaking adorable. You've left it open for a sequel, too. I'll miss reading this story every Wed.

I can totally understand his lack of trust in people. I hope his father is rotting in hell for what he did to him. Stefan/Eric needs to find something good in his life soon. I look forward to seeing what the next chapter brings.

Poor Stefan. He's lucky he got away from those truckers. He's at a crossroads right now. I wonder which direction he'll decide to take? You handled the difficult subject matter of this chapter nicely.

I love how you are building the tension between these guys. Jenson's reluctance to act on his urges towards Merrick is understandable, even if the reader is screaming at him to just relax and go with it. lol It will make it that much hotter when they finally do get together.

I'm finally getting caught up on this story. I can feel the connection between these two, even though they haven't seen each other in so long. I'm looking forward to what happens when they meet again.

Well it's good he had a positive experience with the two boys. I hope he doesn't let stealing the strawberries weigh him down too much...or maybe I do. I don't want him to lose his moral compass or that sense of goodness that's so endearing. I hope he continues to have positive interactions and that someone helps him soon. I look forward to what's next.

Stefan has a heart of pure gold. He gives so much to people and gets nothing in return. I'm really hoping he finds some good at some point. He's a hero who deserves nothing but the best.

I'm finally getting caught up. I thought for a minute that Colin might be his salvation, but man was I wrong about that. The part about him remembering his mom reading to him was heart-breaking. At least he had a positive experience with Maggie, even if her brother is a total asshole. I'm wondering about "Ozzie's Boys". Is Ozzie a pimp who takes advantage of troubled youths or the exact opposite? Somehow I find myself wanting Stefan to lose that card. On to the next chapter... I hope things look up for him soon.

O.O I knew this was going to be good when I saw it was a response to the spider prompt! Great story, Albert. I loved the description of the trees as gnarled arthritic hands. You have a real talent for world-building and I loved the mythos of the piece. I love Halloween too, and this was a perfect mood setter.
