Rusty is a wreck and feels guilty as if he brought on the accident his mom caused. Roy fessed up that he was a monumental coward. August, Maddox, Jonathan, Dex and Kane all try to set Rusty right. Matty had the right message, but the wrong timing. What a mess. We can only hope that Rusty takes the time to think about what everyone said, including his father.
Roy, I can understand somewhat. Living with a person whose mind is sick is extremely difficult after so many years. I do fault him for leaving Rusty to take care of his mom. Roy's excuse was so lame. He left a child to do a man's job, Roy's job. I hope that Rusty thinks about what his father said and realizes that Roy basically threw his son into a mess that Roy couldn't handle himself. Roy made it worse by not even giving Rusty the support Rusty needed to do the job.
Matty has finally told Rusty that he loves Rusty. I think that Rusty understands that Matty has told the truth. What Rusty needs know is to realize that Matty does love the real Rusty, not the King of Sunnyhill. Hopefully, Rusty will realize August was right when she said what happened with his parents had nothing to do with Rusty. He isn't responsible for what either parent has done. Great chapter, Laura!
